2011 - 2012 Opponents Thread

Thanksgiving in Ohio? Why are they being punished? :))

10-20. NEXT.

Thanks for the update Braille. Shouldn’t the official schedule be published soon? I believe it is usually released in August.

PARMAN, if we wrap up the non-conference soon enough, we could (and have in the past) release that portion of our schedule, A10 usually releases the schedule the week after Labor Day.

I got an email a few weeks ago that was sent to season ticket holders saying we would receive our renewal packages in August but that the full schedule would not be released until September.

@gtgblog According to @GoodmanCBS , Niners are playing at Arkansas. Razorbacks were looking for a game on 12/28. Likely a H-H. #SCOOP

Well… that trip to Mempiss for New Years just got a bit longer…

edit: nevermind. Didn’t realize that Fayetteville was on the complete other side of the state.

Good find Mr. B! But don’t get too used to it, this is still my turf!

Wow, I think our schedule is shaping up to be kinda tough.

GTG scooped it.

I wonder if this has anything to do with Melvin Watkins being an assistant down there?

Good stuff… Hate to be a debbie downer but that home schedule is the poo poo platter. Going to be hard to sell season tickets to the public with that one.

We haven’t had a real solid home slate since the CUSA implosion. It was the main reason I dropped season tickets for a few years after the change. If it wasn’t for football’s arrival not sure I would have season tickets at this point.

I won’t lie and say it’s a great home schedule, but this season is about getting this young team valuable experience, and it looks like a lot on the road. After our recent stretch, we can’t expect to have home games handed to us on a platter by good teams. I sure as hell hope Arkansas is returning in 12-13. I wish we hadn’t been shafted out of the events in The Bahamas, then we could try to get some more games at home this season. It looks like Major wants to test the team with road games, which I can’t blame him for.

Another note, if you go by RushTheCourt.net’s offseason rankings, we have the Top 7 Atlantic 10 teams all coming into Halton (Xavier, Temple, Saint Louis, Duquesne, St BonaVENGEANCE, George Washington and Richmond), so we will get our shots to take down the top of the league.

Isn’t part of Major’s pay based on teams we play? This schedule is really bad. Gosh, I was a student during the hayday of CUSA. Those were good times! With home games like this we can’t expect people to buy tickets. I really hope we can get out of the A-10 before long. Other than X there isn’t a single team in the A-10 that is exciting to people. I realize many teams in the A-10 play good basketball but that isn’t what puts fans in the stands. Fans want names and excitement. We would probably do just as good playing in the dang SOCON.
Get football going and lets get into the Big East or back in CUSA!!!

I might get fecal stormed for this, but we’re the problem in this equation. People don’t want to see US play because we suck. We’re not an exciting name on anyone’s schedule. Let’s stop vacuuming before we worry about who is or isn’t on the schedule.

I don’t know about you guys, but I pay to watch the Niners play. Not their opponent.

I will pay to watch us play a good opponent much faster than I would pay to watch us play a team like Lamar?

As you and any other alumni should, but Charlotte “casual fans” want to see top competition, we won’t increase our support with these kind of schedules, but like 2K said it’s mostly our fault, we aren’t bad enough to pull a uncg schedule where we get all these good teams to come and whip us and we aren’t good enough to get great games in Charlotte. oh well… Go Niners!
