I agree. I don’t think Mooney is going to bust either. Just saying there does seem to be some questions though. Like what will he be like post Anderson, Geriot and Harper? Yes, they made the the Sweet 16, but they were a bubble team and eventually were never in a game against Kansas.
I can see a 5 or 7 year extension. But 10 seems premature by Richmond.
South Carolina has lost 3 transfers and one player is going to play football instead of football next year. The fans is not very happy with the coach, but does not want start over this late in the spring.
With Mooney turning down Georgia Tech, Gregory to GT probably a good move for him and Dayton. The Flyers should have been an NCAA team the past couple of years and the team just seemed to underachieve, especially this season with all the apparent turmoil (mostly behind the scenes) with stud frosh Jawan Staten. Hopefully the new coach at UD can build on the foundation laid by BG and predecessor Oliver Purnell and make the Flyers a perinneal upper echelon team in the A-10. Will also be interesting to see if the new coach can convince signee LaDontae Hinton in the fold as well.
Memphis has similar (if not better) facilities, a loyal fanbase, furtile recruiting grounds and a central location, and plays in a league that it can (and usually does) win every year.
Pastner has a better chance at being successful and being in the tourney more consistently at Memphis. Also, I hear the cost of pudding pops are cheaper in Memphis, big selling point for Pastner.
Pastner seems like an odd choice anyway. He’s only got 2 years of experience and they were offering him $2.5 mill a year? NCSU is quickly becoming laughable, if they weren’t already.
Talent alone isn’t going to beat Duke and UNC-CH regularly, and that’s the only thing that will make a State fan happy. Thus, they will forever loathe whoever their coach is until Kry and Roy retire.
