2014 Men's Hoops Coaching Carousel

Now Lutz might be a top candidate if he hasn’t withdrawn. With the way this AD has handled things, not sure I’d want to jump in to that.
This is becoming stranger and stranger…
Understatement.

CBSSports.com: Domestic dispute led Johnson to withdraw from Charleston search

Per Jeff Goodman, Lutz interviewed today at CoC.

Observer blog states Lut is leading candidate and they should announce mid-week. Seems like other contender is Earl Grant, Clemson assistant.

Go Bobby. Hope he lands the CoC gig

Bobby’s a great guy and could probably recruit well in the CAA. Charleston is the best blend of city and beach in the Southeast and should be a great recruiting tool.

Another posting… basically says the same as the CO blog posted above.

Would make 12/16 very interesting.

For more than one reason, I really do not want to see us play against any team he coaches.

Agree 100%

If it ever happens it will be the NCAA selection committee that puts it together. They love a good story-line in a game that may not otherwise matter to anyone but fans of the two schools. Of course that means we need to get back to the Big Dance.

You might want to look at CoC’s schedule. If Bobby gets the gig he visits Halton.

If it does happen, I hope he gets a standing O… And when he ball is tipped he’s the enemy whose team I hope we administer a savage beating to.

I do not want to hijack the thread…but why a standing O? I went to school in the A10 days so I never saw the consistent winning seasons…so I guess I don’t have that super love for him. I view him as a good coach who benefited from a strong conference and then struggled in a new league. Again, I want to stress I don’t want to argue and hijack this thread. I get he was here a long time, but he won less than 60% of his games.

I do hope he gets the job and I think it would be fun for him to come here. Could be some closure for fans…unless he wins. Then all hell would break out. His style was always fun to watch. Much more entertaining than our current regime. However, the seasons still seem to turn out the same.

Good luck Bobby!

Alum, winningest coach of all time, had us Dance a bunch, the Bobby Lutz invitational, he had us winning when we didn’t have the better five players on the floor and was a great guy who loved this school.
His departure was probably necessary, but he will always be worthy of a standing ovation anytime he comes to Halton.

In my opinion, Bobby Lutz was the absolutely best overall coach we have ever had. I really hope he gets the Charleston job. He would really build on what has been a great tradition at Charleston. His teams were always fun to watch and he coached an exciting style of basketball. He was also extremely loyal and passionate about Charlotte Basketball.

You could make the argument that Bobby is the most successful coach we have ever had in any sport. We may have had coaches that got further - Gunn, Foster, Lee - but none of them stuck around.

And the new CofC coach is Earl Grant, beating out Bobby Lutz in the 2nd round of voting! ::slight_smile:

All ADs must be size kings

Because nobody wants this on the cover of their media guide.
