If Marcus Evans wanted to transfer back closer to home, I think we have some scholarships I’d be happy to let him have.

Love Lutz for all the obvious reasons, but not sure he’ll ever be a HC in D1 again. Just a bad feeling, not a jerky bash on him.
Good for VCU, hope their next hire sucks.
Also: Will Wade may be the biggest mercenary currently in college basketball.
Underwood?
My vote goes to Cuonzo Martin. Has a history of staying for three years and then moves on - Missouri State (2008-11), Tennessee (2011-14), and California (2014-17) prior to returning to the Show Me State to take over at Mizzou.

Thought about this after I posted, VCU would be the only place I would see him ending up if he transferred.
Sports director Marc Davis of WWBT NBC12 in Richmond tweeted it’s a done deal and expect a press conference tomorrow
And now official as of today. As such, another opening in C-USA.

UMass must be feeling embarrassed.
John Thompson III gone
Archie Miller to Indiana.
Oklahoma State promotes assistant Mark Boyton to succeed Brad Underwood. A South Carolina alum and former Gamecock hoopster began his coaching career at Coastal Carolina before making stops at Wofford, South Carolina, and Stephen F. Austin prior to olanding in Stillwater.
In addition, California promotes assistant Wyking Jones to replace mercenary Cuonzo Martin.
Hoopdirt reporting that Charlotte Hornets assistant coach Patrick Ewing to be hired by Georgetown
Risky hire. I hope it works out for them, but it’s not a hire I’d have made.
C.B. McGrath, officially named the head coach at UNCW today.

Nothing against, Ewing, but this looks like an approaching train wreck. Kinda like the one at St. Johns after they hired one of their beloved, hallowed and revered alums, Chris Mullin.

Had to go back to jog my memory about why Steve Lavin and St. John’s parted ways. Reminded that over the course of several days it was reported that Lavin and SJU were working on a 3-year extension, followed by news that the extension was being finalized, and then he’s being fired! Apparently had to do with money for the most part.
Anyway, here’s a list of the 41 coaching changes that have taken place so far.
Hoopdirt.com: HD TRACKER: 2016-17 COACHING CHANGES - HOOPDIRT
Steve Fisher announces his retirement from San Diego State after leading the Aztecs for 18 seasons. Will be succeeded by longtime assistant and designated “coach in waiting” Brian Dutcher.
Seems to be the day to say “good bye” to 18 season coaches as Oral Roberts dismisses Scott Sutton. Gotta think that several recent subpar seasons plus fact ORU doesn’t seem to be a serious candidate for membership in the Missouri Valley - ORU on 2nd stint in the Summit League after missing out on MVC when Creighton left for the Big East - were factors in this move.
