2019-20 MBB Opponents and Schedule

Exactly zero, but I’m not sure how me seeing a couple of games would inform my opinion about him any better. Who knows if the game you show up for is even a good game or bad game or average one with out any context of his stats. We have nearly all the stats for every high school game he has played available. Really the only thing missing that would be helpful is minutes per game. The only think you could really see of value is how athletic the guy looks but if it’s not translating on the court into anything tangible in the stats what’s it even really matter other than he’s got some untapped potential perhaps.

Does the name ā€œstill jonesingā€ mean anything to you?

Typical banter. The kid y’all went after hard and your 247 beat writer drooled over picked us, and now he’s ā€œnot that goodā€ to you. Big time giggles.

Can’t wait to see where the massive collection of Jucos leads ECU. Although I gotta tell you I’ve seen that movie before here at Charlotte and the ending isn’t good. But it will probably far exceed expectations for pirate hoops.

I was highly skeptical last fall of Dooley recruiting him after seeing his statline, it’s not like I’ve said anything different here than on ECU boards. Granted his senior year was a lot better and would have eased some of the shooting concerns .

Also we signed 4 freshman as well including a 6-6, 200lb similar type guy as him with offers from Georgia Tech, Texas A&M and Auburn. It’s not like they are all JUCO’s.

Who was that 4 star guard that was going to turn your program around?

Much like you guys we’ve had a lot of attrition of our best players. Syracuse’s 2nd best player Hughes started at ECU as a freshman… It’s not like we haven’t had some good players come through here. He Kentrell Barkley and Gardner should have been on the team last year. Tejada think is who you are referring too, went to Lehigh and was 10th in the NCAA’s in 3 point percentage at 46% ended up having a good career.

That’s the thing about the freshman route these days, if you get a good one you have to fight off the big boys from recruiting them directly off your team, you guys should know as much as anyone. Dooley said as much in a recent interview, basically you stand a good chance of being the farm team giving them the PT when they are young and can’t play much winning ball and then they move on. I’ve seen that movie too. Say what you want about a JUCO, but who wants a JUCO guy that has to sit out a year to play one year. Lot easier to keep them in today’s environment if they are good. Also 2 of the JUCO’s were at Washington and Virginia Tech prior, basically just D1 transfers as much as JUCO’s.

Well praise lebo

It’s true though. If teams like ours could keep guys like Dorin, Woods, Hughes etc together until their senior year I think the outcomes are better. You have to play the transfer game as well to be successful now with like 1500 transfers. JUCO is fine with me as well at least they pretty much can’t leave after they get here and play a year. It’s a way to fast forward the process and insulate. I like grad transfers but I don’t like you have to invest a wasted year in a sit out transfer only to have many of them grad transfer out as seniors again.

Charlotte’s
4 freshman
2 D1 grad transfers (1 year eligibility)

ECU
4 freshman
2 D1 transfers via JUCO (2 years eligibility)

7 JUCO’s but 2 were at PAC12/ACC schools and are essentially just regular transfers that didn’t want to sit out. The 2 others have 3 years of eligibility. Not your typcial JUCO’s.

If you aren’t still jonesing to be sure you must know him? Why did you leave? Was it because we were all correct and almighty Lebo sucked? Are you back because you think this guy is the answer? Oyvey

Someone was on some ECU board , got lost and wondered over here.

SEND HIM BACK!
SEBD HIM BACK!

There is an entire active ECU thread on this board that attracted me. Also it’s not like prognostications on Major or Price were any better. Relative to our lack of history Lebo actually did accomplish some things and has 2 of our best seasons ever, sad but true. We have 4 top 100ish RPI years ever and he had 2, Dave Odom had 1, and Dooley had the last one when he was 30 years old on a shoestring CAA budget.

Yeah I think Dooley has a chance to have success here given the fact he’s probably learned a lot in the 20 years since including in 11 years as the top assistant at Kansas and running a successful program at FGCU he took to NCAA’s/NIT’s and has massively more resources here now than he did as a 29 year old when he got the job the first time. Obviously he thinks he can win here or he wouldn’t have come back after. He spent 8 years here already he should know and interviewed for the Rhode Island job before taking ours and had a good team coming back at FGCU…

dooley will probably do well at ecu. he makes the nit and he will be there forever but he is recruiting pretty well and gardner is a good piece to start with.

I don’t know that that’s true. We had some injuries that cost us an NIT one of his years and in his last year to our best player that gave Hammrick the cover to fire him in the 90’s. He had really bad luck. All it would take is the next guy wanting his own guy again. The fact he came back when after 20+ years when we didn’t have an AD last year says that he really wants to be here/thinks he can win here to step back into the same situation with an AD that didn’t hire you could fire you.

I really like this schedule. We have to focus on regional games to generate interest among fans/students/community. We can sign a 10 year home and home contract with ECU and I wouldn’t be upset. I wouldn’t even waste money on guaranteed games. We suck so bad that nothing is guaranteed at this point.

Do you like gladiator movies?

I think these say more than the articles you guys posted above about the new ECU players.

Bitumba Baruti 6-7, 225

Charles Coleman 7-0, 255

JJ Miles 6-7, 220

Ludgy Debaut 7-0, 245

Tristen Newton 6-5, 185

Miles James 6-6, 215

Pig Jackson 6-2, 215

Those are lame as shit.

Compared to what, Zion? It’s not just every day you get a 7-0’ 255lb freshman that can drop 6 three’s in the same game that Duke offered to come to your school. Lameo.

they have a couple good guys in there. they have an 11 man class and we still are ranked ahead of them in recruiting but i would take a charles coleman for sure, especially with the difficutly we have had landing a legit big
