That’s how all our players used to look.

This. Every time we win a game we are one step closer to retaining a terrible coach and extending the misery.

Ideally Ron wins a lot in the league, wins the conf tourny and wins 2 games in the NCAAs and gets hired away. Thats ideal and I will pull for that outcome. We win, Ron leaves and we don’t have to pay buyout.

The more realistic outcome is we lose more than we win. I never root for us to lose, but the reality is we as fans dont win or lose. I just see the silver lining in losses as taking us closer to letting Ron go.

Worst case scenario is winning 17 games or so and having a good conference record but no post season beyonf conf tourny. That puts Mike in a position to let go of a guy who finished strong - which is harder to do.

If I had my way if we don’t finish in the top 4 of the league we would let him go. We have the talent and the league isn’t that good. If we finish in the top 4 - regardless of how I feel about him, he likely deserves another year.

Wouldn’t a better approach to just look at the positive and hope more happen?

It wouldn’t matter to me if both FranƧois and Garcia split time behind Aly, but putting Vasic in the game period is insanity. No part of his game helps us in any way shape or form. The angle I watched last night from, I could see Luka open several time and his teammates ignored him because even they can see it. We actually play 4 on 5 when he’s in the game. Nothing personal against the guy, I’ve rooted for his success for it seems 8 years now, but he’s just a liability.
Give me Musa all night long. We finally have a legitimate player on the court with Clyde and Jahmir.

If you want to be completely illogical about it based on past performance, yes. If I want to ignore the fact that we have one of the worst defenses in the country despite it being our alleged identity, yes. If I can ignore the fact that our coach actively throws players under the bus and his only assessment at the end of last season was that we needed to be a little bit better on defense, yes.

Unfortunately my brain doesn’t work that way and I can’t hope and wish my way into supporting Sanchez. He has shown absolutely NOTHING to indicate that he will be able to do good things here. What I do think he is capable of is pulling off a half assed decent season this year (which would be objectively bad by actual performance metrics, but good enough to show those who desperately hope and dream that there is purported progress) and keeping his job for next year, only to continue to disappoint. Logically, I am very much opposed to that outcome.

Wow! we moved up 33 spots in the Net rankings from 198 to 165. Is normal to have jumps that big with the Net rankings?

I see too many times our guys inside forcing it and putting up a bad shot even against double teams while a 3pt shooter is wide open for the pass out. Aly can be a good passer (when he’s not trying to be fancy) but when he gets the ball near the basket He also needs to be looking for the open guy.

clt says aly is legit

Illogical to me is being upset that the team won a game because you are worried that means the coach doesn’t get fired.

I take if you don’t attend games or do you attend and wear the opposing teams colors each game so you can pull against them to get your wish of a coaching change?

You’re entitled to your opinion, but more than anything we need a head coaching change and the right hire to get us back on track. Nothing else matters and my belief is that Sanchez can’t make it happen, so yes, I’m rooting against a mediocre season just good enough to save his job. If we were 9-2 instead of 6-5 I’d be pulling for him to win. We just continue to roll the mediocrity train with him.

And no, I don’t go to games anymore regularly. I’ve been to quite a few during Sanchez tenure. I was also a season ticket holder and even donated when I wasn’t really in a financial position to do so early on in my career.I was ready to support him despite not liking his style basketball. Halton is a an absolute ghost of its former self. It’s so depressing to be there now. There is no energy, and no hope. I can’t even get casual sports fans to come to our games if I offer free tickets. We are a nothing in the charlotte sports landscape. That’s what happens with a no personality loaer head coach after a decade of losing before him.

I’m happy for you that you are able to block put our sub .400 overall record and you can enjoy beating a no name team or getting a moral victory after a loss. Anyone like that, please enjoy the winning. It just doesn’t do anything for me.

There has to be a corollary to the argument that Sanchez is a defensive minded coach with a 300+ defensive efficiency rating if we are over .500 on the season, right? We are 79 in offensive efficiency. Couldn’t that mean he’s adapted our game plan to play to the team’s strengths?

I’m not ready to die on the hill to defend Sanchez as I’ve not really seen ā€œitā€ in him since he was hired. But I’m also not in the camp of rooting against my college team that doesn’t get a first round pick for tanking. Going .500 and firing him will at least be better for current recruiting that could parlay into a better future of our program with the next coach versus being a bottom feeder in the conference once again.

You are correct you are entitled to your opinion but its always interesting when people who don’t watch the games formulate opinions and then root against ā€œtheirā€ team. Athletic support is not always about wins its about being a non fair weather fan but you are entitled to that as well. It’s a vicious cycle that if people don’t give/support the team it’s probably not going get better. Your choice or not to donate/attend games, but I prefer to try to be a part of the solution instead of being the fair weather fan.

Not to butt in but the Fair Weather fan talk pisses me off.

I have been a piss poor foul weather fan for the last 15+ years and yes I’m sick and damn tired of it.
I went to every game thru the Melvin-Lutz run I could make it to (fair weather) but I’ve also gone to 80% of every game since thru Major, Price and now Sanchez (blizzards, hurricanes, drought…as foul weather as can be found on this planet).

I’ve been a foul weather fan…and a putrid weather fan and a terrible weather fan for 15+ years and I believe I’ve earned the right to take my umbrella, slickers, snow boots and parka and go inside for a while until the weather man can straighten this out. But I refuse to willingly and continually step out in this blizzard anymore.

Call me a fair weather fan if you like…but it’s only because I have had more than my fair dose of this sh!tty weather and I don’t care to put up with it anymore.

If you have been through all of that and you can still deal with it…I tip my hat to you good sir.

And P.S. - I’ve donated like crazy over the last 15 years and it hasn’t improved anything…apparently that’s not the solution you think it is.

Central watches games. I know this because I often watch with him.

I’m still upset we fired a successful coach b/c he slipped slightly. Lutz did not forget how to coach. It was ineffective athletic administration moving us to a misaligned conference. And, leadership instructed to ā€œcoach a different style.ā€ I promise you Duke never instructed Coach K to coach a different style. Even K had a few down years.

The problems we have today were self induced. I hope Sanchez is successful. If not, and we do not at least communicate with Lutz, I’m out. I’ve paid my dues for over 35 years. I’ve earned the right to share my opinion.

I knew it was a horrible move when Lutz was fired. There are plenty of horrible years since that proved me right. No way in the world would Lutz have the record we have had since his departure. Let’s bring winning back to our program.

A bit sensitive aren’t you considering I was referring to not coming to games comment and cutting support on top of being disappointed in a win while hoping for failure that is a fair weather fan in my book!

It’s the being upset about a win though that pisses me off, any fan of a team should never root for failure, I don’t care if you come to every game and give tons of money, that is just the opposite of being a fan in my book!

I don’t have any issues with people who are upset and want changes to be clear. What I am tired of seeing is people who want things to go bad in hopes of the changes they feel are needed.

I think the fear is that Sanchez’s buyout is so big, a slightly above 0.500 season could be enough to keep his job. I’m not hoping we lose games but I have seen enough to come to the conclusion that Sanchez is at best a slightly above 0.500 coach. I’m still holding out hope that every game could be a turning point where things start to click & he figures it out. I don’t think that’s likely to happen but I would be fine with him turning it around & being successful here. But if I have to choose between 1 really shitty season & being a mediocre 0.500 team until 2026 I would dang sure choose biting the bullet this year & moving forward with a coach who can get this program back on track.
