Well, that was depressing, but just shows how much work we have to do. Everyone knew FAU was better than their record, that second half just showed how much work there is left. Five years ago, we werenât competitive, bumps in the road, but the Niners are competitive (despite last night). Gonna be the same going to the AAC and that will take time too.
Not gonna let last night, for which I was admittedly was overly excited (and perhaps too unrealistic), dampen my spirits today.
We were dominated on the line, both offensive and defensive. Offensive line gave us no chance in the running game. In our only TD drive, we had 1st and goal from the 1 and ended up having to throw it in for a TD on 4th and 1 after 3 failed running plays.
Coming in, we all know our defense is going to give up 30+ points, and our offense is going to have to put up some big numbers. That unfortunately puts tons of pressure on our offense. There is no margin for error. Turnover the ball 3 times and you get blown out.
5 red zone attempts and 9 points does not lead to winning football. Defense looked like swiss cheese. I know every team has their off nights but last night looked like someone killed the team dog.
Games like this make me wonder if Healy is the right guy. Game reminded me some of Illinois with their DC adjusting at halftime and that was it - like CLT only does one thing well and stop that, game over. Couldnât believe FAU has lost 3 games.
Is it to late for open tryouts for a walk-on kicker?
We have elite WRâs, good rbâs and a good QB and thatâs it. At this point, we should throw 40 times a game. Duboseâs man is an all conference guy and dubose was abusing him, yet we stopped throwing. Agree on all points about line play. Our DT situation is bad
regarding, Reynolds: in the post game it was mentioned that he was pretty roughed up and some question about a possible hand injury. Anyone know anything about that?
We lost the game, but won the first half. On a good day, we beat them, on a bad day, we lose to them. I thought before the game we would need for our offensive production to carry us to a win, and it instead turned the ball over and the penalties, and the missed kicks, and the missed opportunities to keep momentum by going for it on 4th downsâŚ
Hopefully 75 is rtg. He dressed. Hopefully Chris is well enough, because our backup plan scares me
A bad day is losing to FAU by 10 pts. That 2nd half was a nightmare. FAU did whatever they wanted with CLT. The talent difference was noticeable with 7-10 of their players, who looked like they could play anywhere.
Having #75 back would be big for us. We had him for I believe all of our wins except the last one.
But he is also a super senior IIRC. We need to start building these lines with FAU sized guys asap. Especially now that we are stepping up in competition.
You fellas need to quit obsessing about Appalachian and fix your own mess. CLT hasnt been right about anything. Just asking⌠who has the more committed fan base, App or Charlotte? Wednesday and Thursday games with 30k? Come on manâŚYour hate is misplaced jealousyâŚ
Our guys mostly self-destructed on offense. Our defense makes us almost dependent on our offense for a win. Self-destruction to me means the Niners were not physically whipped and stampeded because they were facing a superior team. Losing by 1 or 30 doesnât matter in the win-loss record, but if losing by wide margins is a trend, they are in trouble. Otherwise, I hope that was notice to the Niners that they control what happens next game
