I’m going to be optimistic about the DC hire until I’m given proof on the field not to be. A lot of the same type of statements could have been made about Glen Spencer. He did good things here.
Apparently CUSA thinks the SB3 will be in CUSA next year whether they want to or not:
Is it possible we only play 10 next year? I can’t imagine UAB-Marshal get resolved quickly. I assume it ends up in court
Looks like a 1-3 start at best. Maybe that’s a good thing after 2021.
Wut…?
CUSA is doubling down. That’s petty bold to go ahead and release the schedule with the 3 schools already saying they are leaving in June. I pray they have a back up schedule.
I can’t imagine it being (10), every team will want the extra home game. They’ll make 8 conference games work even if it’s messy.
Once again Ga St game is massive. They always seem to be the early season measure stick for us.
In my opinion I think playing 2 P5 teams is not a good idea.
You don’t turn down a home and home with a B10 program and we need the money game.
I wouldn’t do it the same year I’m playing a SEC team. But I get it will be a good payday.
If we play P5 teams I’d prefer to play more beatable ones. We were originally scheduled to play at Indiana for the 2023 season but I guess Mike Hill wanted to have a fun weekend in Gainesville with his old pals so the game was switched to at Florida.
Contract was changed in 2017 before Mike was on the job.
I like that we are scheduling big time programs. If we want to make a mark we have to play schools that give us a chance for a program changing win.
I like it too, but to get thise wins we have to be so well run and such a top tier G5 program. Id rather be bowl eligible and have a winnable schedule than lose by 30+ twice, deal with injuries, and just miss a bowl - at least at this stage of our program.
It would be different if we were coming off a 9 win season and had a functional defense, but for me, winning a big upset game against a formidible P5 is just a pipe dream rn.
Well then we need to shock the world - and you.
Keep in mind these games are made YEARS in advance. Maryland game in 2016, Charlotte Indiana in 2015 and amended in 2017 - I am not sure with the USC game was made, Florida was I think 2019 and a 1.5 million payday.
When we schedule these games 5-10 years in advance we have no idea what kind of team we will have. We won’t know if we are coming off 9 wins or 2. Its a gamble. We also need the Florida type games at this stage of the program regardless of scores because we need the money. Getting a B10 home and home is absolutely huge and will help with recruiting. Now if we were scheduling Bama and Auburn the same year then maybe I’d take some issue with it. But we are not talking top 10 programs here with Maryland. Florida who knows. Indiana I like our chances.
We can’t complain about sucky league and sucky teams and home schedule vs teams we should win and then complain about games vs teams people know because we might get beat.
The football game with the Florida Gators was scheduled in June of 2019. Mike scheduled it.
