Ucf and george mason arent decent teams? I hate this kind of negative hyperbole. Not ssying we are especially good but that statement is ridiculous

Itās the same story every season for as long as I can remember. This time, at least itās not about Sanchez.
The standards just keep getting lower the longer we are bad. Liberty and UCf are top 75 on KenPom so right now but those are losses. Still need to see more of the season unfold.
Bottom line we should have beaten ucf. Dammit.

Im not lowering my standard. It was inexcusable to lose that ucf game. We blew it, plain and simple. My goal and standard is now, and will always be the ncaa tournament but i disagree with the statement that those are bad teams we played and that we are bad

Gotta get further into season to see who is good be bad. The only team Iāve seen is play that is legit bad it UV. The other teams are decent.
I look at it this way. First you prove you arenāt a bad team by not losing to bad teams.
Then you win games most games against mediocre to good teams.
Then win games against legit really good teams teams.
So far we have done 1. Looks like we are competing with mediocre teams to good teams. Havenāt yet played legit good.
This is a fair analysis. Our best win is over a team right in the middle, George Mason, KenPom at 131, then Utah Valley at 179, then Maine at 277. So average KenPom for wins is rated 196.
Liberty is 43, UCf is 67, so average loss is rated 55. Quite the spread there. Also all numbers subject to change since itās still so early.
This roster has more upside top to bottom than any weāve had in a while. Its up to the guys to make it happen and the coaches not hold them back back as they have been in the past. My 2 cents worth.

Sanchez had his pillars, Fearne has his values. And thatās not uncommon in collegiate athletics. Just sayingā¦

Too early to say Fearne is the guy. I need 20 games minimum. I like the direction I see so far because he has made good changes in my opinion. The defense actually looks improved because of the wrinkles (1-3-1). Need to see growth in the players from last year and from game 1 to 20. I wish we could see more of the recruiting, but that isnāt happening in a show me season. Bottom line it is too early to make a prediction on how good we are and how good Fearne is as a college coach. Through 5 games I would say we have played better than my expectations overall.

Agree that itās too early.
The good Iāve see is our defense seems better, we seem to be rebounding better, and he changes the defenses up.
The bad is rotations arenāt great. He left Jackson is in the second half against ucf and they just abused him because they knew he had four fouls. He just let them go straight to the basket and fearne didnāt make a change. We lost the lead and ultimately the game largely because of him not subbing Jackson out.

I havenāt made up my mind about Fearne. I am kinda rooting for him but oddly I am more worried about recruiting than coaching. He needs some time with this team to make it his.
KenPom is probably the best we have to go on, but itās highly biased at this point in the season because he is still using last yearās numbers. I say it every year (I know).
I am thankful for Fearne. He is constant reminder that Sanchez is long gone. Sucka hadz to go.

My apologies if I offended anyone. Iām old and remember playing teams like these so our bench guys could get some run after we got up by 25.
I guess I need to realize those days are gone, perhaps for forever
