Poggi: In 2024, the winner of the American will be in the playoff with the expanded format. The goal for every team is to make the CFP [College Football Playoff], and we are in a conference where if you win, you will go. We are going from a power five to a power six. You aren’t getting to the CFP unless you win your conference. With Charlotte going into the American, if you are within 90 minutes of this place, you can stay home and have a chance to go to the CFP. Your family will watch you play every weekend, and players can become a legend in their hometowns. You can join a movement to make a college football powerhouse in Charlotte.

We are excited to go down to Gainesville and College Park. I hope to win those games because we aren’t going there to lose. We think our team matches up well. We want to play these games. We expect to win every game we play. Our coaches and players expect it, and the fans should expect it too.

The difference between Poggi and Sanchez’s approaches is night and day. It’s really almost jarring to read Ron’s statements and then see Biff’s.

Poggi has this kind of swagger:

Man, I hope the results on the field back it up… Cause this is exactly what you want from a Coach.

It’ll be interesting to hear Poggi’s post game press comments after losing a game we really should/could have won. Is it a learning experience or did coaches and players inexcusably drop the ball and need to fix it fast?

Anyone seen odds for us to win the conference? I might throw a hundred on that if it’s got a good potential return.

Watch the cost of winning on HBO after they lost to Bryce Young (Mater Dei). It’s pretty clear he takes extreme ownership for the results of the team. As this is his coaching style, I would assume that it would be pretty similar.

Also, there is a book called Inside Out coaching by Joe Ehrmann. He and Biff coached Gilman and developed their philosophies in terms of coaching together. It is a great read and highly recommend it. He talks a lot about the qualities of Biff and how their backgrounds developed their inside out coaching philosophy.

Good call there, that was a devasting loss and he took it on himself and used it as an opportunity to get better.

A loss is a learning experience so I’m ok with the coach speak. It needs to be followed up tho with ownership of that teaching and holding players accountable for success is the coaches job. Don’t throw the players under the bus, it’s on the coach to put them in a place to win.

Will need to find a QB, hopefully we can find one coming up short in the rotation somewhere after Spring practices with some playing experience, who transfers in.

I think we have 4 possible breakout QB’s. The odds of getting 1 from these 4 are not that bad.

Spring game should tell us how whether we need another QB.

Going into Spring how do you see the 4 deep at QB stacked up?
