My fear coming out of the half was a likely 30 point loss. Purdie and the offense played well enough in the second half that did not happen. I never really thought going in we would win and with all the damn injuries, an 18 point loss doesnât feel terrible (still a loss). Lose next week though and thatâs a different story. I thought our defense fought hard against a more talented and bigger team.
We were punched in mouth multiple times today and fought back. Purdie is raw but has a lot of potential. Max looked better too. It is not a good sign when he finishes the game in street clothes and a cast. Donât think we will see him next week. I feel much better about our team. We couldnât buy a call even when our receivers were tackled while running their routes. With that said, we didnât give up and could have. I can see potential in this team. WE finally ran a screen to Henry Rutledge and bam we score. There are things to build on here but we need to get healthy and fast.
The problem, in todayâs landscape, if Purdie plays well while Max gets healthy. Then we donât have any QBâs next year because Max looked good before getting hurt and Purdie is young. Someone will come a knocking with a bigger bag. That has been my fear with the coaching staff and others talking about how gifted Purdie is as a Fresh. Selfishly so.
Itâs been 11 years of moral victories, âwoulda, coulda, shouldaâ and âbad callsâ. Weâre regressing.
10 games still left this season. Iâm not worried about next seasonâs roster.
Played well today, probably better on offense than we have played in a couple years. It wasnt really a competitive game (they had 500 yds offense) but I would give us a B.
Also a lot more organized and less bad penalties than in the past!
We are due for some good luck or something to get an FBS Win. I believe we only have 2 in last 13âŚ.
Brutal.
Just got back. Despite the loss I feel good about how we played. Also the charlotte fan presence seemed big.
Iâm optimistic for the rest of the season if these injuries arenât season ending.
Purdie is something else. 17? I think he just turned 18 recently but I feel you. He is a man child. Huge potential.
He seemed to improve as the game went along
This illustrates two truths: Chapel Hill is not a well coached team (thatâs a really stupid mistake) and refs favor them (missing that call when the yard marker is right there)
Tonight is the first time Poggi has even resembled being a D1 Head Coach
