Dead period started today, so no in person contact with recruits allowed either on or off campus. Lasts through June 2nd. Most of June will be a quiet period, which allows in person contact, but only on campus.

Anyway, almost 2.5 days since Coach “teased” us on X that a commitment announcement would be forthcoming.

Does this only pertain to basketball?

A commitment has been confirmed.

Still awaiting official confirmation.

Anyway, from a piece announcing his transfer:

Are you saying that Szymczyk has committed to Charlotte?

So that means we have two Russian in Szymczyk and Metskhvarhvili. Feel for the broadcaster with those names playing at the same time

I thought the Gator fans said he was from Germany?

And his nickname is Shimmy.

Meta is from Georgia, and flirida guy is from germany

I believe Aleks is polish and was born in Poland but grew up in Germany!

Love getting a 6’10 big from a SEC school. Coming off a broken foot but he did return to the gators practices at the end of the season. Plus he has 3 years left which is good if he pans out and stays but all we care about is next season. Right now.

I think we will be more athletic and tougher next season !

Yes, born in Poland, but grew up in Germany. Surname definitely Polish.

Szymczyk is an incredibly polish name, not Russian. The other guy is Georgian.

Pronunciations:

I believe with georgian names, the v’s are pronounced like w’s

It’s okay to click on the pronunciation guides provided above.

Anyway, in Georgian, the letter v is pronounced same as in English.

Knew the name Szymczyk rang a bell. Definitely some good pronunciation in the vid below:

How many scholarships do we now have open?
