AAC Facilities News 🏟️

clt says we have more bricks

In the end a lot of these indoor facilities are big metal buildings with a bit of veneer…let’s go heavy on the brick and leave off the EIFS.

Yep…

Even what we want to upgrade the Rich to only gets us to about par with Apogee, and they have a very nice IPF.

While we discussing Apogee, there is one thing about it that I strongly dislike - and it’s not the massive V shaped end zone stands… It’s the field side stairs between the upper and lower sections. I dunno why, but they remind me way too much of how Halton Arena is broken up between the upper and lower bowls. I strongly dislike that break in the fans. It’s basically inevitable in such a setup, but those stairs really emphasize it in a non flattering way:

Would prefer those stairs to be recessed (hidden) and more seats connecting the upper tier to the lower instead.

Also, the press box tower we are proposing to build most resembles Apogee. They look like cousins of each other if not siblings:

I’m not as worried about matching capacity of our AAC brethren as matching quality of facilities and having all the accoutrement like the IPF, etc.

Not having that kind of supplemental facility is going to be more devastating on the recruiting trail than stadium capacity.

“They don’t even have an indoor practice facility” is not a phase we want used against us.

And yet it is what it is.

Not a bad seat in the house!

clt says that arena looks to be the correct size

Dont under estimate the appeal of the Florida market, USF has the West Coast of Florida and therefore will probably get additional opportunities if conferences continue to grow. Ever growing media market, recruiting area etc…

Yeah, but that’s UTSA?

They really seemed to have missed their window. They should have built an on campus stadium long ago.

Will be interesting to see how the proposed USF on-campus stadium progresses.

Hopefully well. We need the AAC to be as strong as possible. Period.

Then we rise to the level of competition just like we did in CUSA 1.0.

Baseball facilities related. Memphis is installing new turf for the upcoming season. Good to see them investing in baseball. They’ve typically struggled in baseball.

USF has also replaced their natural grass field with turf this offseason.

Future members UAB & Rice have installed a full turf field this offseason.

We should have our full turf field by the time we get to the AAC, so that doesn’t leave many natural grass fields in the new AAC.

ECU- grass
FAU- grass
UTSA- grass

Charlotte- turf
UAB- turf
Memphis- turf
Rice- turf
Wichita St- turf
Tulane- turf
South Florida- turf
