Cool, enjoy pissing away Charlotte’s first potiental playoff win ever and watching Kemba and Jefferson walk after a few years of no playoffs or no chance to advance and starting back over just so you can maybe can get a Mouhamad Sene, Jeremy Lamb, or Steven Adams at a 10-12 pick like OKC drafted :
Those guys are the most overrated overhyped lucky “geniuses” in the NBA. For every Ibaka you luck into a 24th you got 2 or 3 Jeremy Lamb’s in the middle of the draft on their hands, that you traded James friggen Harden away no less to get. Those lucky dumbasses blew up a potiental dynasty for “cap” flexability and to keep Kendrick Perkin’s. That’s your model.
You are confusing Sam Presti with Clayton Bennett. OKC dumped Harden because of cheap ass ownership. Not an incompetent GM

It’s cool. Enjoy your Sene’s, Lamb’s, and Adam’s at 10-12th in the draft like OKC landed when you are just about as likely to luck up with a Ibaka at 24. It’s luck, that’s all it really is even for OKC. Dumb luck built around actually not getting the #1 pick one year no less.
JR Smith is bigger than and as athletic as Henderson and has a good nose for the ball, (actually steals the ball more) and Hawes is bigger than McRoberts and certainly a better rim protector. They have defensive attributes to work with with a coach with the right motivations and system.
Marrion is certainly a better 3 point shooter than Gilchrest as well. At least he would keep you honest with his crazy looking shot. The guy hit 58 last year at 36%. That’s very respectable for a SF, and he can be a streach 4 as well. Gilchrest is 3-18 in his entire career.
Perkins is definitely the biggest knock on Presti for me. They should have amnestied him. Could you have imagined a guy like Jefferson in place of Perk. Would have been something else.
As for Jefferson, he definitely has made strides on the defensive end. But thats because of the bobcats defensive philosophy, which is to protect the paint and force excessive ball rotation. They hide jefferson and allow him to just battle the other teams big guy. Hawes and Smith arent gonna do that for you. They are poor defenders that are going to put extra pressure of Jefferson.
This is the first time i’ve seen hawes described as a rim protector too.

But which Marion would they be getting the one that shot 36% last year or the one that shot around 15% between '08-11.
Grantland had a nice write up about a month ago on the Bobcats D…or at least I read it a month ago it could have been older. It was a neat read.
Cats need a legit 2 guard and they will be fine…and NO JR Smith is not that guy. At all. Affalo would be a nice addition. Lance Stephenson would be a massive gamble. Signing a scoring 2 and a 3 is a waste of time. One one person can shoot and the offense will run through kemba and al still. Look at the heat last two years for an example. Other than Lebron, their role players were huge.
I would rather see Cats get a legit backup PG (Sessions potentially back), a legit backup center, and a legit 2 guard.
Starters would be kemba, Legit 2, MKG, mcroberts, al jefferson
Bench would be Backup PG, neal, henderson, Taylor, CDR, zeller, backup center
…Taylor coming back might hurt CDR rotation chances
pine would be biz markie and whoever else is on the team
Considering the fact he’s hit 779 three’s in his career at 33.2% I’d say the 15-20% was more a fluke from a very small sample size of 20 to 30 shots and not being asked to shoot them that year. Last year was inline with what he has done most of his career.
0.7 a game at 33.2% Career
0.8 a game at 35.8% last season
It’s also a skill you can actually get better at as you age with repetition.
I’m pretty sure you are trying to put words in my mouth again and that I said better than McRoberts, but what would you call a guy that averages 1.6 blocks per 36 minutes for his career? He’s certainly a better rim protector than McRobert’s at 0.9 per 36.
Smith steals the ball 1.4 per 36 his career compared to 1.0 for Henderson. There are some defensive attributes to work with here like both being bigger and having some better shot blocking and ball hawking abilities for a good defensive coach. Smith is as athletic and bigger than Henderson and Hawes is a 7 footer.

What?
Look, this is all just mental masturbation. Hawes isnt coming here for a multitude of reasons. Marion isnt coming here either. And the Knicks cant find a sucker willing to take on JR Smith. I think adding those 3 to the core Charlotte has would be an upgrade offensively but a disaster on the defensive end. You disagree. Reasonable minds and such.
StillJonesing, 2 things that you just see differently from everyone else, that most people just aren’t going to change their mind about. 1) Marion is on the downside of his career and just doesn’t match the Bobcats rebuilding plan. 2) JR Smith has a reputation of being a bad teammate. You can throw out all the advance stats you want. But these are both risks that you are willing to take that most people are not.
Gerald Henderson 2.8
JR Smith 1.2 (overall Win Shares JR Smith has had 3 blips in a 10 year career… Looking at the numbers, last year is a good snap shot of what he is as a player

Cass is right, that’s worse across the board.
Any stat based predominantly on the Total number of games and minutes played is a weak one IMO given injuries and certain positional strenght and battles for minutes on certain teams. For example do you really think Al Horford is only worth 2.8 total win shares and less of a player than Gilcrhest just because he was hurt and played a third of a season? That’s essentially what these number tell you the way you frame it.
Even if you break down Win Shares per minute it’s not much better and is a weak estimate stat. John Wall for example is ranked #101 by win shares per minute in the NBA, Kyrie is #100 both behind such studs as Nick Collison, Byombo, and Ian Mahimi. Does anyone really think he has less value per minute to a teams win total than guys like this?
If you want to say JR Smith takes atrocious shots and ignore his great Effective FG percentage which is just the most simple math of actual tangible shots that go in 2nd graders could do and hold up probably the worst estimate metric around go for it.
