FWIW, with the exception of a season at The Citadel, Hauser has spent his entire life in the Midwest, primarily in his native Ohio. So apparently not everyone looking to leave the Buckeye State.
QB Coach Scott Isphording announced on X he is staying in Athens.
Another life long Midwesterner save 5 years in Kansas and Colorado at D-II level at the beginning of his coaching career.
How about Rod Smith of Jax State? Could he be a fit for Albin? Or, will he end up in Morgantown? For that matter, the entire Jacksonville State coaching staff should be available, and many of their players as well. Jacksonville State was a well coached team that won their conference, but their AD elected to bring in an Auburn guy to be their new head coach, so the old staff will be looking for a new home, and probably many of their players.
nvm, Rod Smith to Marshall.
He’s very young.
At the conclusion of the 2023 regular season, Faanes was named an American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) 35 Under 35 honoree, as announced by the AFCA.
“Perhaps more noteworthy, several sources have told FootballScoop that Ohio is slashing the football operating budget for the Bobcats program.“
That might explain Albin’s willingness to come here. Not sure if the Bobcat fans on here had heard the same before this article went out
I haven’t heard that they are cutting the football budget, but it isn’t overly surprising. Ohio has never been totally committed to football. They have always been far more committed to basketball. Look now at Bobcatattack, and you’ll see a prominent thread suggesting that Ohio should drop to FCS.
Note that Faanes is also the special teams coordinator. Ohio has had very good special teams, and very, very good defenses the last few years.
I believe our coaching staff is looking at a 20-25% across the board raise, so I don’t think this is true.
The budget part, not the Faanes part.
