Albin's Coaching Staff

Hard to know. These others were leaked awhile back, but it took awhile for an official announcement. Fitch may be a red herring, or perhaps, the leak will be confirmed later with an official announcement.

If the longer term, the key is not who the individuals are, but whether he can build a cohesive staff that works well together, and which stays together. There will always be some turnover, especially in the early years, but hopefully it will be less than 1-2 coaches the first year, then 1 every other year thereafter.

Color doesn’t coach but one would hope he’d bring in some diversity. Much needed in the South. Strong start though.

Does Tre Bell count?

Tre def counts. Coach will eventually meet some new coaching contacts outside of Ohio that will make diversity champions happy.

Bill Belichick is white. Would it be wrong to hire 6 bill belichicks if there were 6 of them?

No. I wouldn’t want a coaching staff full of cheaters.

The article above says that four position coaches remain to be hired. I think the remaining positions to be filled are a QB coach, WR coach, DE coach, and Passing Coordinator. Someone could also be named as Defensive Analyst, I suppose.

My guess is that Nardo may in Charlotte for only a year. I think he was making $700k a year at Oklahoma State, which would be way too much for a Safeties coach.

There should be multiple offensive and defensive analysts hired.

Summarizing the hires:

Directly from Ohio: Albin, Rudolph, Metz, Faanes, Mattix, Gilkey, Finney

Formerly had been at Ohio: Haines (via App St), Miller (via UCLA)

Others: Fitch (LSU, etc), Bell (UMass, etc), Nardo (Ok State), Kirkendall (ECU), Woods (Georgia), Denham (WMU)

I would guess that the remaining hires will be outside hires. It should be a good mix of people with experience working with each other, combined with outsiders for new ideas.

Still to be hired: QB, WR, and probably a separate DE coach.

I got curious what the difference was:

The main difference between an associate head coach and an assistant head coach is rank and the level of responsibility they share with the head coach:

  • Associate head coach

This role is one step above an assistant coach and one step below the head coach. They are responsible for assisting the head coach with the management and administration of the program. They share responsibilities with the head coach in key areas, such as recruiting, coaching strategies, and budget management.

  • Assistant head coach

This role supports the head coach and helps improve the skills of the players. They help with practice sessions, game preparation, and equipment maintenance. They also perform administrative duties and supervise students.

Is it just me or does Fitch look like the classic old gangster in the movies who is tired of the game, doesn’t want to hurt anyone but is perfectly willing to gun you down if you get in his way? Lol

Looks like the type that would drag you out of your mamma’s basement !

Fitch looks like he would sneak a smoke ( filterless) while team is doing basic drills before breaking off into groups.

Looks like a guy would be able to coordinate an offense!

I think he looks like Dustin Hoffman

My take is if you combine Dustin Hoffman and Urban Myer you get Fitch with some Marlboro Reds stuck in his socks.

Yeah, I see that. Maybe a little Chris Cooper there.

Fitch and Denham look like they are best buds

While we are on this subject, when did Ron Sanchez’s son become a cheerleader?

Time for this thread to heat up again? With the portal activity winding down, I expect we’ll see the last few position coaches hired. I think I remember that there are 4 left to be hired, and I know that two of those are the QB coach and the WR coach, as well as the passing game coordinator (who might be one of those two).
