ASU AD issues letter
They had to expand that store so all the App students and grads would have a place to buy their UNC-chapel hill tee shirts and other apparel.
;D

I was snooping around on appfans.com and spotted the App fans’ responses to the mention of “App to the CAA” possibility.

They were all opposed to the idea because they consider the CAA a step down from the SoCon. Can they get any more clueless?

Gotta love their never-say-die attitude.

I would like App to be in CUSA simply for the rivalry and cuz, yes, I actually enjoy going to games at Boone.

:o This is pathetic:

“I’ve talked to Judy Rose. She does NOT want ASU in the same conference much less in FBS. She has actively promoted the “too hard to get to” objection. We would hinder their development in football. And by the way, did you know that the airport in Wilkesboro will handle a 737?
Runway length needed is around 5500 to 6000. Wilkesboro is 6200 feet and the necessary 100ft wide. If not Wilkesboro then Hickory is 6400 ft. 150 ft wide.
Get on the bus and we are as close to the airport as UNCC is to the Airport in Charlotte.” :))

Google maps begs to differ: it’s a 57 minute drive from that airport to Boone, and 15 minutes from our airport to campus.

If they have to fly into Charlotte, take a bus 3 hours (buses go slower) to Boone, play a game, check into a hotel, bus back to Charlotte, fly back home…that is a lot of time wasted.

If this were a conference where every team could afford to charter a flight for every sport, then App’s location wouldn’t be called into question.

Why the hell would CUSA take Watauga’s Teacher Collge when the ACC and BE may be on the verge of collapsing due to the soon to be Big 4?

We would definitely take some like Cincy over them.

clt says it is clear that they are idiots. a 737 may technically be able to land, but would wear down the runway and the taxiways are not reinforced for the weight. not going to happen. Even Concord Regional needed work to handle the weekly 737 flights for NASCAR. And that runway is 7400 feet.

There are enough schools with a lot of pull left in the ACC and the BE that if the others do something that cuts significantly into their revenue, lawmakers will intervene.

Schools like Duke, Carolina, UConn, Louisville, Syracuse, Pitt, NC State, etc have enough clout that if they get angry, important people will listen.

If any programs ever try to break away from the NCAA, they will not get tax free status and they’ll make less money than they would by being more inclusive to non-football powers.

After landing the 737 at Boone-Blowing Rock Airport, the’ll need to pull the plane backwards down the runway in order for it to be able to take off again. Their solution is to use a large pickup truck with a winch. Of course, they’ll need to make it a dirt runway to accommodate the chains on the tires.

I just see another domino effect coming if Clemson and FSU bolt. ACC poaches the Big East ala UCONN, Rutgers, and whoever else.

Who does the Big East take then? They’ve shown they want nothing to do with ECU or So Miss. At a certain point the Catholic schools will say is enough is enough.

I agree with school having clout and pull NN - but I think the point is with the Big 4 solidifying their hold in college athletics there will be additional changes to the BE and the ACC. Why would CUSA take App at this point when a school like Cincy could be looking for a home (the BE going all basketball for instance). I am glad we got into CUSA when we did because I can absolutely see BE football falling apart. If the ACC loses FSU/Clemson and a combo of 2 other schools to the SEC they will go grab some more BE schools and at that point the BE basketball schools might just say fine forget football. Schools like SDSU, Boise, Cincy, USF, UCF, Memphis and Temple could be looking for a new home and we know CUSA leadership was considering a 24 team model. I am not saying that is how this will play out at all, just that with all the wheels still in motion CUSA is wise not to bring anyone else on board and why I think we are lucky to have snuck in when we did. If the ACC suffers any losses that is a huge domino that could touch off another round of moves so why not wait and see what the results of that are before calling anyone else up.

App State is now almost like the former girlfriend who was just totally decked out, everybody loved her, 5 years ago, 6 years ago. She’s not getting the same looks anymore. And I hate it for App State because they, sometimes when you’re on the front end of things, you don’t always get the spoils.

They set the bar so high, that it’s actually starting to hurt them. And I don’t think they have the right people talking for them.

I think they’re the victims, sometimes, of their own success. And I’m hoping, you always need an angel, or you know somebody, to come along and help you in anything you do. And it seems like App State needs a conference angel to come along and say “Hey look, we haven’t forgotten about you. We want you here.” Are they gonna get it? I don’t know. I really don’t.

That’s just a bunch of rambling. Was he trying to form a thought?

We can’t talk junk about App being a victim of their success. We’re like the nerd with a Super Model. We’re only in 1-A FB because of our city, not anything the school did.

Maybe you’re selling our University and its athletics department a bit short. There are worthwhile reasons for us to be attractive to any conference. Sure, the location is a major factor but that alone wouldn’t have got us an FBS invite.

clt says queens college was the #2 choice for cusa.

Bull crap! You sound like an App State fan.
