So were Emory’s, but they also will not be playing FBS football.

A little bird told me that with the possibility of Jacksonville leaving, App can expect an invite to the AFC South in the next few weeks.

I find it amusing that they’re so paranoid that they think we would vote against them joining to “rub it in their faces”. I wish they understood we really don’t care what happens to them.
Don’t they realize we’re already in CUSA and we didn’t play a single down at their “perineal powerhouse” level? We have nothing else to rub in their faces. We won. Let them join. It’ll be fun to argue and fight with them. If any shuffling takes place down the road we would be taken over them anyway for the same exact reason we were taken this time… it’s not like having them in conference really hurts us at this point.
I have no problem with App joining in…5-10 years. Until then lets go ahead and get the better recruits and establish our brand. Once that is done, and a whole generation of people no longer think of App as a “Football” school, then sure let them in. The damage will be too great to overcome and it will take them at least another 5-10 years to catch up. By then another conference will gobble us up and the separation in status will be permanent.
App thought they were being smart by trying to keep us out of their rinky dinky conference for football only. They made their bed. Now they can lie in it. They have never been successful in anything other than small college football. One of the funniest things I have ever read was when I read on their board about them still joining C-USA because 737s can land in North Wilkesboro.
It’s hard not to laugh every time I hear anyone talk about ASU.
I went on their board yesterday. It is amazing that they think Judy will vote against them joining CUSA and hate her for it, but they have no problem keeping us out of the SC.
What App doesn’t get is that the only weapon in their gun is their football attendence.
They simply have nothing else. No proximity to anything. No tv. No market. No success in other sports. Nothing.
If we can put 22000 in the stands on saturdays mixed in with 6500 for basketball, 2000 for soccer, 1500 for baseball plus success in the former sports plus room to grow plus our media market, then App is not playing the same game as we are.
I wouldn’t sell them too short, Tintin, they’ll a couple dozen more baseball fans next year.
