From the bottom of the Dewurst article at ninerreport:
Recruiting Extra
With Dewhurst, Tatum and Carlos Williams in the bag for 2006 and Beasley and Kenyan Harmon coming in 2007, the Niners will undoubtedly turn their recruiting focus to South Carolina shooting guard Mike Jones. It’s believed that the Niners are in strong contention for Jones with USC.
Jones is a phenomenal talent, sort of like an Eddie Basden type player that is more offensive minded.
Ian Andersen will visit the Queen City this weekend, and the Niners are looking at a host of JUCO big men.
Charlotte bound wing Cameron Tatum gave a glimpse of what 49er fans can expect from the 6-foot-6 wing. He's one of the most athletic players in the country and wasn't afraid to show that off at the camp.
Blessed with good size, a non-stop motor and great handles, Tatum will the be the ideal wing for Bobby Lutz at the next level and should be a key player in the Atlantic 10 over the next couple of years.
He was recently ranked by Rivals as the 4th best player in the state of Georgia (and there is a LOT of talent in that state). I have a friend that goes to UGA and he has watched Tatum play and says he is unbelieveable and will be VERY good for us. He said that in the games he saw, Tatum was draining the threes, and taking it to the rack with authority. Now thats what I like to hear
Is there a reason why Tatum decided to wait to the spring signing period to ink with the 49ers?
K-Town,
In an article on NinerReport he said he’s solid on his commitment but wants to get his grades in order.
In fact, he’s doing a diary for NinerReport and just sent in entry #2. Said he went to the Ga St game and was excited about the win. If you read it, it was written to the Charlotte fans.
I was worried about him waiting because of our slow start but if you read what’s out there on NinerReport, it’ll put your worries to rest. It’s worth the money - next to this place it has the most news you’ll find on the niners and it’s the ONLY way you’ll hear anything from the players directly.
Charlotte commitment Cameron Tatum did his thing to the tune of 24 points in a 53-44 loss to Clover. He’s got a wow factor to his game and improved his perimeter game quite a bit (try NBA range) but just didn’t have enough in him or his Tucker squad to get the W.
He had 23 pts in a win last night, said he sank a 30fter at the halftime buzzer, article references his inside scoring and his dunking ability. His team is 1 in the state.
I hope it comes down to Tatum v Wilderness for the final.
I guarantee there would be a few Charlotte references by the announcer. If that is the case, and the championship is at a good time, I think a few of us Niner fans should get down there and get loud to show support.
