Candidates for MBB Headcoach Not Named Aaron Fearne

I think fearne is a decent coach, but it takes more than just being a decent coach to win in todays landscape unfortunately. The old college game is probably never coming back, unless players start signing employment contracts that prevent them from transferring so easily.

I like the guy, I just don’t think it’s going to work out for him.

Yea this is the kind of guy we want……an admitted cheater. Rather lose then have this guy at the helm.

No surprise you’d rather lose. You celebrate losers here with every post.

What once was cheating is now perfectly legal.

Today’s Candidate. Successful MM coach and P5 Retread Darrin Horn

1999-2003 - Marquette Assistant
2003-2008 - WKU HC
2008-2012 - South Carolina HC
2015-2019 - Texas Assistant
2019-Present - Northern Kentucky HC
Overall - 250-156

WKU - 111-48
South Carolina - 60-63
Northern Kentucky - 86-50 (54-24 in league play)

14 years of HC experience and only 50 years old.

Makes &$544k at NK. Need to step up our game a lot to be attractive.

South Carolina, where head coaches go to kill their career. Frank McGuire left the holes, dropped South Carolina out of the ACC and he and SC became irrelevant. Bill Foster left Duke and bombed at SC, Bobby Cremins took the job for a day, went back to Georgia Tech and never was the same. Eddie Fogler was an up and comer that died at SC (we helped there, Hee Hee), Dave Odum, Star Coach at Wake and perennial NIT at SC, and our Candidate of the day " Darrin Horn".

Sanchez was at $650k. At a minimum, we will be around $850k and that’s on the low side for AAC. At $850k, we will attract quality HC options from the the jump. Majority of Sun Belt, CUSA, MAC, etc goes from $400k to $500k.

The fact for the first in many years we are hiring a coach with out having to pay the last guy should allow us to pay a decent amount.

But this is why I keep talking about money and resources. If AD can’t fund raise then it makes everything harder.

Would I rather lose with dignity than to win dishonestly, yes. All day every day.

Being on ESPN due to a cheating scandal is not the publicity we want. We will let Chapel Cheat keep that ā€œhonorā€.

Having your only solution of fire anybody and everybody is at best comical. Ask Duke if they are happy they kept Coach K after back 17 loss seasons in years 2 and 3. Ditching good coaches after just a few years is just plain stupid and leads to what we have now, constant turnover and continued seasons without an NCAA bid.

Is Fearne the answer, I don’t know yet as it is a long season. I do know he is getting a lot out of the roster and we are playing harder and better than we did under Ron.

Hey just one, almost 40 years a Niner, man’s opinion. You do you. Cheat away. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye::laughing:

He is a sleezeball, but I’m tired of losing.

Whatever it takes.

I had to look up who that is.

Nope. I have been supporting this program some 1986 and I will leave this program if they hire a sleezeball like Wade. Won’t give my money to a program that will hire sleeze just to win.
