clt endorses “Charlotte FC”
It will be Charlotte Athletic
Why not Charlotte Divided? There are so many teams using United and City, why not the next logical nickname.
Maybe the Charlotte Uprising protesters squatting in front of the downtown jail could be persuaded to wear team garb, although Braxton Winston might tear his off.
It’s crazy enough that it may work. I’m just glad it’s Charlotte and not Carolina.
This is a bit sad. Plain and derivative. They had better options. They went conservative and missed a chance to stand out from the crowd.
They went with the model that is the world wide best practice… City name is the football club gold standard. Sometimes the best solution is the most simple one.
I think the logo is the best part- I love the “minted” in the crest … What you need to do is grow a nickname or alternate moniker in this sport… Most have a name supporters use that isn’t part of the official club name… You can’t rush these things… Let it grow organically.
My choice was Charlotte Athletic which would have kept the city name front and center but been a bit different and unique.
Modeled after Charlton Athletic in England. At least they went with Charlotte and not Carolina.
That would have been fine too… would have also been a “classic” club name…
I can see “The Crown” being the unofficial nickname since its so visible in the crest
704 shop soccer gear sold out in 1 hour. And their 49ers gear still not stocked if they even plan to. I get sell outs to not hold inventory but when you are selling out in hours, whoever is ordering is doing a terrible job planning.
Pretty sure they do it intentionally to drive demand. They like exclusivity with their products.
Stupid business model where I couldn’t buy the soccer or niners shirt on same day as release. They must make too much money and don’t care for any of mine.
Part of their offer is limited print… Get in early or get shut out. Its a business model that appears to be working quite well actually.
