They have had horrible ownership which is the most important differentiator between franchises.
Hopefully the new owners break that trend.

Despite what so many like to claim, Shinn was not a bad owner, honestly.
The Timberwolves have not made the NBA Finals, but this could be their year.
Iāve posted this before. My all time favorite comment about Shinn was when Sorenson noted that George had moved to Jupiter, Fla, while fans would have preferred he move to Jupiter the planet.
He was a better owner than Bob Johnson or Michael Jordan.
Shinn was a ācomplicatedā man. As I have said before, been willing to cut him some slack because he loaned the school the Hornetsā plane to take the team et al to Louisiana to attend the funeral of Charles Hayward.
He was a pretty down to earth guy. I had the chance to meet him before he was even awarded the Hornets franchise. I was just a kid, but he was very nice. He was pretty good about letting his basketball people do their jobs as well.
Thatās why he was a better owner than Jordan.
Yep, who wouldāve thought MJ would be a more successful as an owner in NASCAR than the NBA!
Keep reading this a āweakā draft with Alex Sarr of the NBLās Perth Wildcats seemingly the only consensus in the mocks at #1. After that pretty fluid among lottery pick projections. As far as the Buzz, Iāve seen UConnās Stephon Castle and Donovan Clingan, G League Igniteās Matas Buzelis, and Red Star Brigadeās Nikola Topic. In other words, definitely no agreement at #6 among that small sample size.
Should be an interesting draft to watch since it is so wide open
IMHO: Have not responded on this topic because I thought it was sarcastic. I am sure he/Shinn was a nice man when someone met him as a kid, he was a con artist and master salesman. That is what he did, right out of the same mold as Jim and Tammy. What he did to this city, the public image hits and then moving to NO, the man couldnāt even show his face in the city again. He makes David Tepper look like an angel. As someone who lived here when CLT was small and during that time, my take. As for Jordan and the Hornets, all I heard during his ownership was he didnāt care, gave them a budget/salary cap and left it to the Mgmt to figure it out.
May have been wrong, but was not sarcastic. Old lemon head was no angel for sure.
He did get us a team when nobody thought he could.
Yep, no angel but there will always be the Charles Hayward gesture.
IMO Tepper wins worst owner of a CLT franchise - hands down!
I wonāt even try to break this down, but your comments (and that ESPN āarticleā) are pretty far off base. BTW, I am a native Charlottean and was a fan of the Hornets before there was a team and stood in line as a college kid for tickets to the opening night game against the Cavs. I followed the team very closely.
Iām not sure falling from 3 to 6 is going to make much of a diffence in this draft. I will say drafting Clingan at 3 seems like it has bust written all over it. At 6, maybe not so bad. Funny how just 3 places in the draft can affect your opinion. Castle at 6 doesnāt excite me too much, exceptā¦with Ballās injury history, I could see them going this route with Castleās ability to play both 1 and 2.
With Williams injury history and losing PJ Washington, I feel like they need another big.
clt says jordan is the worst owner
tepper brought music to charlotte and a tiny qb who eats salads!
My picks would be Castle or Holland. I think they both fit the Hornets perfectly in different ways. Holland is basically a replacement for Bridges. It would be great to add Bridges on a 3 yr contract to give Holland a chance to acclimate and replace him. Castle also adds a defensive stopper to the backcourt. I would say that Martin is, but he canāt stay on the court. I think both Castle and Hollandās 3 pt shot will get better with a couple of years in the league. I donāt think either will set the world on fire as a rookie, but both will show steady growth to quality starter by the end of their rookie contracts.
Agreed. And thank god we didnāt keep Jalen Duren, that would have been horrible
I have high hopes to never see that kind of idiotic move again.
