They’ve given me no reason to donate. I could be a decent individual level donor but I’ve yet to see they know how to manage the resources they have and make good decisions. We need a successful Niner in charge.
I’ll add that when I let my FSLs escheat, not a single person reached out to me. Not one phone call, not an email, nothing. Makes you realize how little they value the donors and alumni.
The scary thing if the rumors of the low salary offers are true is that we owe Sanchez nothing. What kind of issues would we have had if (when) we had been forced to fire him next year?
it was a right move given the timing. I would use the whole season to start evaluating candidates for the next coach and put some pressure in locking someone up for 2024

I have a feeling the ones who talk the most smack on here, don’t support the program financially. It’s going to take a lot more than your $49 a year to pay AAC coaches.
It’s easier to bitch than write checks with 000’s.

Think about just how bad Sanchez screwed us.
Our two best players bounce out (don’t tell me they were leaving anyway cause you don’t know that).
Then he shits the bed with most of the recruits.
Then he bounces late May when it’s too late to hire someone.
Now we have to name Fearne the interim for next year.
Which is going to KILL recruiting.
This will result in a long tail of suckitude that’s gonna take 3 years to fix in total probably.
And the entire year next year is gonna suck for all concerned because of the lack of clarity.

I’d be very happy to donate thousands a year if there was something to support. We are a comedy of errors and I can no longer support it.

This was a bad look not naming him interim immediately. We do that and the story is Sanchez fucked them and this is all they can do right now. Let’s get behind the new coach… with the search it’s like we shined a light on our dumpster fire.
I’m glad we are going to get to see a new style.
Damn, the low points in basketball keep on coming. Sanchez leaving when he did has the deck really stacked against us now.

If Fearne was the “right” choice then why did we hire an outside agency to help us find our next coach, he was a last resort only after we failed to land anyone else, and maybe Hill felt as though the right candidate was not available at this time, but Fearne was a fall back plan, or he would have been given the title as interim coach for the 2023-2024 season immediately

- Was never going to accept but wanted leverage for current school to increase contract

So it is probably smart not to overpay a less than ideal candidate since not many if any available. Could have offered low salary for less than ideal candidate leading press to report low salary. Also likely that the pool of candidates presented by the search firm was not what Hill wanted. So Hill probably abandoned that early in the process to work on a deal with Fearne. Also probable that the deal with Fearne took some time (more than 1 day) to get negotiated in this weird situation. Don’t believe everything you read on Twitter or in a forum…

While a little disappointing initially, promoting Fearne is probably the right call. Could have rushed a search & probably overpaid to get someone this time of year but if no one really stood out or was willing to leave their existing team then it’s better to not rush into a contract with someone new. We should all support Fearne & the team. It’s not their fault Sanchez left us in this situation & who knows, he might surprise us. Just hearing him describe the different style of play sounds way more exciting to me. Hopefully we have the players to make it work.
