Charlotte Tabs Aaron Fearne as Interim Head Men's Basketball Coach for 2023-24

Sarcastic Season 9 GIF by The Office

I expect dozens of excited season ticket holders (parents) to pack the left side of a row for home games next year…
and with Brice gone…Threadgill can finally get the minutes he deserves

Man…I cannot wait

I was a loyal basketball season ticket holder for well over a decade. I went out of my way not to miss a game. I haven’t darken the door of Halton arena since March of 2020. I anticipate attending some games next season now that we no longer have a stubborn coach that runs a painful to watch system.

Will be interesting to see how Fearne can bring a different scheme with the same coaches or will he let someone go? Coaches were brought in because of the scheme’s they know.

Any change Fearne can persuade any of our new recruits that just transferred out to return?

Well, since Dishon Jackson has been the only one thus far, maybe. Guess it really depends on who had the lead on his recruitment.

That is a good question. Was thinking Sfera was a packline guy & Smith a Princeton offense guru. Hopefully they can adapt to coaching other schemes. I wonder if we bring in a new assistant or promote Dinkins. Probably hard to convince someone to come in for what is likely only 1 season.

Some people must be in a viscous cycle, they complain that we don’t have enough money to hire a coach who can win at the same time saying they won’t give/support until we do win.

Frankly I don’t think money had as much to do with the decision and it was more after talking to other coaches, the current players, and Fearne, Hill decided the best decision for the coming year was this one.

I will always be there supporting this team and my school.

This might be the most embarrassing move a Charlotte AD has ever made. This is after Sanchez leaving being one of the best days. Does he get a paid trip to Australia now? He needs to be arrested for the high crime of impersonating an AAC AD

I feel like talking Jackson into staying is absolutely key.

clt says it should be an easy sell. now you get to run an actual offense.

I really don’t see any positives in this move. None

Without Jackson, we have three unathletic lumbering 7 footers, 2 of which have no/almost no collegiate playing time on the inside.

Decision tree:

  1. Hire quality head basketball coach to resurrect a failed program?

  2. Take a vacation.

I might actually consider getting my season tickets back. I’ve always liked a good underdog story.

Excited to see Fearne pick up the pieces and get the most out of what we have.

I have very low expectations given the roster we have, but I’d rather watch Fearne try than watch Sanchez ball for another season.

Can’t make a call on the Fearne decision until next year. This was a throw away
year any way. At this point, what does one more year matter if you can’t get what
you are looking for.
Lot of options and time to figure out next move for Basketball.

Am I to interpret this was the team finding out about Fearne? If so, that’s a positive. Now let’s get Jackson back in the fold and see what happens.
