Charlotte Tabs Aaron Fearne as Interim Head Men's Basketball Coach for 2023-24

Add to it the chip on the shoulder they all should be playing with I think they could be better than what it appears on paper. The concern for me is going be the depth and avoiding any injuries.

Only team returning starting five intact is FAU. Memphis will have an entirely new starting lineup. Amazing Tigers likely end up with only one returnee who scored for UofM last season!

After threatening to walk out if Fearne wasn’t hired…their asses better play like their hair is on fire. THIS is what they wanted…they better show out. No excuses.

Can’t let players make the decisions!

I would give them a day to rethink if they ever quit the program. I would set rules about what would be considered quitting the program. I would let them know, on the second day they remained quit, they would be removed from campus, the belongings they did not take would go to off campus storage, and their scholarship would void

clt says the lady on that podcast is awful.

She is an App homer and hates our program

The Field of 68 has started posting interviews with new head coaches. Not sure if Fearne gets included as an interim but will be on the lookout for it. (Or guess I could just contact Goodman since he’s pretty good about responding to inquiries etc.)

You can lead good men through hell and back. Losers need motivation

I don’t want Fearne fired. I want him to either prove me wrong or prove me right.

I assume you’ll be expressing your opinions of Fearne and all the player directly, at the season ticket holders pre-season dinner this fall ?

Don’t assume. This is a transactional business now. These are not just coddled student athletes anymore. It’s a business. It goes both ways now. And what Fearne said in this interview is that they threatened mutiny. Our athletic director caved to a handful of mutinous players who haven’t won anything to be so proud and bold, and he put up a sham 10 day coaching search to save face.

Can you provide a time marker for when Fearne used the words “threatened” and “mutiny” in the interview?

It’s amazing that the same people who should be supported and pulled for are instead insulted while those people call themselves fans. What they really are is pretty pathetic to insult college age athletes who represent the school with pride, all the while hiding behind a screen name.

The narrative that you are not a true fan if you criticize the program is nonsense, criticism brings about change, and when you have been unsuccessful for almost 20 years we should welcome criticism and change instead of continuing down the road of “culture change”, “pillars”, “building a foundation”, “developing character”, and all of the other rhetoric and coaching cliches that are used as a smokescreen to hide our inefficiencies and lack of success

Do they though? Every one of them would leave for a good NIL offer elsewhere if offered.

You don’t believe that happened? What do believe based on the interviews and facts? I am not on trial, but your basketball is in deeper shit than you want to believe

It’s hilarious to me the “say it to their face” rhetoric. These are public figures. The coaches, the players, they’ve chosen to embark on a path that will bring them public attention, give them the opportunity for fame and fortune if they can be the best at their craft. The trade off is that you rely on people to donate to support you and people you don’t know and have never met now get to judge you and your performance.

It’s like that at every high level of sport, it’s like that in politics, acting, even business for publicly traded companies. You are allowed to be critical of public figures and contrary to this ridiculous line of posting, it would be highly inappropriate to say it to their face even though it’s perfectly fine to be critical privately… Because they are public figures.

This macho transitive bs is mind boggling.

We shouldn’t be criticizing players personally, but their play is absolutely fair game and the coaches are fair game as well.
