Charlotte to Hire Michigan associate Head Coach Biff Poggi as new Head Football Coach

Yeah, sign me up for that.

Guarantee you if we had a coach for 7 years that had a losing record, there would be unrest.

Bowl games mean nothing to me. Unless it a NY6 or a playoff bowl, it’s just an extra game. A participation award. The early season games against P5 opponents or games against App and ECU mean way more to me than some trash bowl game with 6000 people in attendance.

If we can bowl regularly the impact to the program and the increased interest in the program locally would contribute greatly to being able to close the gap with P5 programs and other instate schools, increase donations, tv ratings, ticket sales and sponsorships and improved recruiting. Would be huge.

Has that happened at Georgia State? A bigger school in a much bigger city?

Would going 6-6 or 7-5 help the program? It beats going 2-10 for sure, but I dont think going to the Toilet Bowl is going to garner significant interest from potential donors with no connection to the program.

GSU has GT in their market and UGA basically next door. Slightly different dynamic here. We also have been basically out drawing them even given our suck.

I like the bowl ties with the P5 leagues and I don’t mind playing matchups against schools that we should play but won’t schedule us.

Don’t really care about playing a random MAC team in a midweek pre Xmas bowl though.

One can have disdain for bowl games but they are highly important to the players and schools that make them.

I would take Elliot’s past seven years right now considering before he arrived Ga St was 20-62 all time. He is also 4-2 against Georgia Southern who is their biggest rival and is 3-1 against us.

We’ve only won six games once in 10 going on 11 seasons. I want make the playoff every season but if that I my benchmark I’m a fool. When we made the Bahamas Bowl in 2019 both the Twenty Six Acres and the NoDA Brewery viewing parties were packed out. NoDA ran out of glasses and certain types of beer because so many people there. Winning six plus games a year is better than 1,2,3, or 5. No college in NC has shined in football historically so let’s have a dose of reality. I want to be great but I’ll take a bowl game over perineal ESPN Bottom 10 laughingstock.

I’ve been in management successfully for over 25 years…doing just fine without your intellect. Thanks anyway…BTW, I already knew your line of work. You’ve pretty much told everyone on here multiple times. Very impressive.

The real question is what are his interpersonal relationships with his staff and players?
I guarantee they know him way better than anyone on this board and know his leadership style and signed up for it. They, more than likely, knew how he would react and what he would say.
I am not a fan of that leadership style as it is light years from my own. I will have to trust that he knows his staff and his team well enough to know the boundaries.
Our effort and execution against UF will tell us how they reacted.

If he’s told his OC what he wants and what his expectation is then the guy should know it’s coming. I hope it’s not a pass the situation though

Biff wants old school football. At press conference he was talking/ longing about Army and what they do and how they do it. I imagine the coordinators at their ages and places in their career and where they came from are more inclined to the new school way of football. Just an old vs. new way of thinking. My problem is I dont think we have the Oline to do what Biff wants and OC knows that. I am not sure Biffs does though.

Army has a swarm of smart, disciplined, fit football players, most of whom have played together for way longer than half a year and 2 football games. Our guys could play their own form of an Army philosophy. Trust me, Army would love to have linemen our size, but they still have to meet tighter Army Cadet specifications after football season, as I was told. Meaning, they gotta eventually be lighter than most of our dudes could get after both groups likely bulk up for season.

We are supposed to be running like Army in terms of focus and limited passing. It is much easier said than done. To me, watching the Army offense is watching rare, beautiful, old school football. Army needs their special teams and defense to compliment the offense. We got 1 out of 3 phases clicking

Army actually moved more away for the old school triple option this year and are mixing in a lot more shotgun/passing. I do think its a misnomer on the offensive line though as all of their starters in the two games I have seen were listed over 300lbs and looked the part.

My understanding is that while they are enrolled and playing football they are given more leeway on the weight but once they graduate then they have to meet Army specifications.

Clearly you like arguing. I bet these stats

.

Clearly I actually watch and follow college football:

I love the optimism, but are you calling Maryland a “good” loss?

I’ve certainly had thoughts about that. He’s said multiple times now “I won’t be here”, not in the context of getting fired, but rather just quitting.

Hell, we’ve had one quit on us, 2 if you count Price which I kinda do. Nothing new to our miserable ass fandom

U both are kinda right but wrong at the same time. Yes, Army is primarily a running team. But they use not pass the ball only 1 or 2 times. Now they throw a tad more but still not like it’s an air raid Offense
