Good to know. Our 6â7" freshman(Clayton) is averaging as many rebounds and more blocks than your 6â10" guy. Thanks for the update.
You forgot to mention that Claytonâs numbers are all while averaging 5.6 minutes less per game than Guilmette. Howâs that for production?
Oh yeah, and Claytonâs numbers are against all DI competition.
Pretty funny how when I mention season long stats like scoring defense, RPI, PER, or shooting percentages you guys brush them off as meaningless. Then guys like NLP or someone a few post later will throw out something like shooting stats or RPI from 1 game or two. I just want you to remember this, so when we get to a larger sample size of 10 or 15 games so that they suddenly donât become completely irrelavent again. We can revisit the progress, Bowdenâs shooing percentage etc.
I agree with others that changing SJâs name was uncalled for.
I agree with you there SJ, but we canât compare apples and oranges. You guys need to play more D1 teams to start with. Here is some national rankings so far this year. It is early with both teams only playing 3 games.
PPG Allowed - Charlotte 25th, ECU 60th
FG % Allowed - Charlotte 8th, ECU 50th
3PT % Allowed - Charlotte 13th, ECU 199th
Rebounds per game - Charlotte 58th, ECU 81st
Our team is built on defense and I think it will show in the game against each other.

One more that I think is important in Charlotteâs recovery is blocks per game. In the mid to late 90âs we were pretty good, but we have not been good in a long time. We are currently 22nd in the nation at 6.0 blocks per game. ECU is 83rd with 4.7. These are the freshmen getting these as Braswell has never been a monster shot blocker.
Howâs this for a long term stat:
Shamarr Bowden college career 37.2%, and 36% from 3pt . Not exactly a world beater. Mediocre at best for an SG. I donât know why you keep hyping him. Then you throw in his flat stat line where he averages more fouls at 1.3 per game than every other facet of his game. Just over 1 rebound per game, 1 assist per game, virtually zero blocks, and .4 steals per game is too generous. Tell me why it is that we miss him again? What are we going to revisit? His Lebo induced ascension to 37% from 3 pt land while contributing nothing else to the team?
3 or 4 games doesnât even make a dent in a season of 32+ games long. You guys want to talk about aples and oranges, and throw out our cupcakes but you never also acknowledge that we have played a significantly harder SOS the two years under Lebo in the other 28 to 31 games and how that would affect our stats. One of those years we played the 42nd strongest SOS compared to your 125th ranked and that was vs the exact same number of D1 schools, yet it was irrelavent when I brought up just how much harder a schedule we had played then. Not exactly apples to oranges either when we have played a stronger SOS overall, with more top 100 teams in the 2 years under Lebo.
You say you are a great defensive team after 3 games and that we are not. Yet we return all but one player from a team that was ranked 111 spots higher than you in scoring defense last year over the course of 30+ games. We also have proven shooters like Bowden who was the top returning percentage shooter in CUSA. I think weâll be fine in both of those areaâs over the longhaul and we can gladly revisit these stats in a few weeks if you want. If you would like me to start posting some of your âshootingâ guards stats to demonstrate why I think Bowden is pretty good HXC, we can do that too.
Bowdenâs 61-161 for 38.1% from 3 at ECU with a .538 true shooting percentage which is very good for a guard.
ok, Iâll give you that, but we still beat you guys both of those years so whatâs your point.
âŚand we still finished ranked higher in the RPI, Sagarin and Pomeroy those two years , the three rankings systems used to help deterimne the NCAA field. Our average finish under Lebo the last two years is about 65 spots higher. We were also ranked higher in every preseason ranking Iâve seen this year that ranked all the teams as well.
And I think itâs pretty funny how when I mention season long stats like wins and losses, you brush them off as meaningless and completely ignore them.
Until they start hanging banners for things like PER and RPI, the only thing people give a shit about is your w/l record.
A few thoughts here:
-
SJ UNCG was predicted to win a division of the Big South, not the Big East. They are not a very good team.
-
Yes ECU did finish higher in several ranking last year compared to Charlotte, however we still beat the pants of your kids and in the end we each ended up out of the postseason. (No SJ if you write a check to get in it does not count. NCAA or NIT)

I agree we should not change SJâs name. I like that he comes on here and provides another perspective. Sometimes its an incredibly douchey perspective, but its still different. We should not be changing his screen name over it. Thatâs a very EZU/Appy thing to do. We are better than that.
We blew, they blew. I hope both are better and I think we are. Havenât seen them play so I donât know.
They do have a horrible schedule that should be addressed by the head honchos at CUSA but we ainât exactly beating Duke and Kentucky either.
I like his posts, hell gets kinda boring without a dissident or two.

I wrote a $100 check to Make-A-Wish because they had a higher RPI than us last year (hey SJ, same bet this year payable to MAW?)

4 games and heâs right. Donât make the bet. Theyâre avoiding 4 RPI-hurting losses by scheduling 4 stat-padding games. Until theyâre willing to play a fair schedule, itâs an unfair bet.

This. Hard to take anything RPI related seriously from them when they are scheduling teams that donât count against RPI. Either they would schedule some anchors and (maybe) win or schedule quality road teams and lose. Apples to orangesâŚ

Itâs a $100 to Make a Wish, I should be doing it anyway, great charity and I love to gamble on anything. Sometimes even sucker betsâŚ
