clt says that is absurd that ā€œp5ā€ conference would be included in a contract

p5 doesn’t exist

WBB is not the stongest sport in the AAC. The highest RPI last season was 85, with three teams between 85 and 100. Very Meh. Hope we get a good young coach, anyway.

Sorta odd that we would limit it to P6 institutions but guess that has more to do with money than it does with NET rankings, though Marquette was top 50 at #42 this past season.

So we get $260k? It is much nicer to get paid when a coach leaves than to have to pay a coach to leave.

Clt says ā€œWho is Cara? Our coach is Karenā€

Yeah I’d agree with @4ever_niner here. It’ll be just as difficult to find a coach as it would’ve been in CUSA.

Judy had connections in realm of WBB which Mike probably does not have. Every coach she hired went on to a P5 program, though my personal opinion is that her last one was her worst. Cara’s a pretty good coach now, but was clueless and relying on experienced assists and Karen’s recruits for at least the first three years.
Mike’s going to do OK and if he doesn’t, people will not care like football or men’s basketball.
I’d say the level of interest is comparable to softball and he for sure hit a home run with that hire, so fingers crossed.

I hope it’s a good hire. 14 years ago we beat South Carolina in the WNIT, now look at them. It appears that some schools have pushed that program but we never did.

Yep, I went down to Columbia to watch us play sometime before 2010 and someone was giving away free tix in the parking lot. They were that bad.

I will give Hill credit for his coaching hires outside of Sanchez and Healy. Sanchez was a good hire on paper while Healy was a reactionary hire once he lost his guy. Jury is still out on Poggi, but he seems to be bringing in the right pieces. We all know Fearne can coach and we’ll see if he can recruit with limited resources.

The Healy job seemed like a great hire at the time. Him being FCS coach of the year and all. The issue is that he only knew how to recruit at that level.

But I still think the rise of WBB is in its early phase so there’s still a lot of room to move up and it’s definitely possible. I’m excited to see what this new era will look like.

Coincide this with a possible return of the Sting and our first pro women’s soccer team coming in August, this city as a whole might become an awesome women’s sports town!

Girls are leaving now… which is understandable. Wonder if Dazia follows Cara?
Do we even have an interim coach at the moment?

Cant blame her.

I’m only surprised that it took Cara leaving for her to enter the portal. I pray she doesn’t go to Marquette. She will get better coaching and enjoy her surroundings more somewhere else.
