UVa invests heavily in player development. Kind of the ‘diamond in the rough’ approach. He may have certain skills that they see as an asset but lacking in another area of his game. Could he stand at the 3 point line and shoot well next season, maybe? He might not have the strength needed to drive to the basket or have the feet to play the pack line effectively, however. Mamadi Diakite at UVa is a good example He was crazy athletic when they recruited him but very raw. He redshirted his 1st year and has steadily improved, now there is talk he could leave after his Junior year for the NBA. I know its a little tough to see a 3* sitting as bad as we’ve been but I think the long game approach is right for us, especially at this point.
cozart looks like the sort of athlete and rim protector we need underneath. nothing against corbin but if we take another guard, i prefer dunn or carter over him based on what i have read. wonder how hard we are recruiting these guys?
Per Verbal Commits, we have offered 6-6 SF Caleb Stone-Carrawell of Cox Mill HS in Concord. Father Chris Carrawell played at Duke and is currently an assistant at Marquette.
