Coaching Rumors

Does anyone else feel like this could be a good time to release stadium expansion plans too? The hype of a new HC could bring in a lot of money in my opinion. I know there has been studies conducted recently of our facilities, but I really think the culmination of a great hire and the release of stadium expansion (at least the plans/timeline) could really spark donations/FSLs. Hill is calculated and I trust his judgement/execution.

Yes and I think this is hills plan.

Are you starting to get the feeling that nobody undervalues our Head Coaching job more than we do?

This. If anyone doubted how our peers viewed this job, they should no longer.

I was called last night by an ex-Florid Gator who knows Mike well. First name out of his mouth was Steve Spurrier Jr who is a big part of the coaching staff at Wazzu.

Thought I would post this again. This pretty much sums up who you think your peers are. Make it to 1M and the company starts to get slightly better. Big jump at 2M.

Yes and I think this weighed on Lambert being fired. Was less about W/L this season than the long term potential to raise capital. Lambert is NOT the man to raise funds so fresh blood and a coach with that sort of experience and charisma will matter a ton to Mike.

Ryan Day will probably be Ohio State head coach next

Steve Spurrier Jr. now following multiple Charlotte account on Twitter.

Looks like that old Gator mightā€™ve been up to a little something

My guess is heā€™s trying to shoot his shot. If his name was Barry Harde, it wouldnā€™t move the needle much IMO.

It is not Harde.

Steele served as Kevin Greeneā€™s rag doll during his time as a Panthers assistant.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/sports/redskins/longterm/1998/gamerep/week15/panthers14.htm

Greene, tied for second in the league in sacks and one of the best pass rushers in NFL history, attacked assistant coach Kevin Steele on the sideline in the first half of the Carolina Panthersā€™ 28-25 loss to the Washington Redskins.

The Panthers had just given up their third touchdown early in the second quarter and trailed 21-3 against Washington when Capers and Steele began to address the defense on the bench.

When Steele, a slender marathon runner, waved an arm near Greene, the 6-foot-3, 247-pound linebacker suddenly jumped up, grabbed Steeleā€™s jacket with two hands, starting yelling and pushed him backwards about 10 feet. The two had to be separated by players and coaches.

Is that a real name, or is that his porn name?

From The Athletic on the Colorado vacancy

Jedd Fisch , who finished last season as UCLAā€™s interim head coach, was a finalist for the Kansas job this week. Heā€™s also likely to get a lot of interest for the Charlotte head coaching vacancy. The 42-year-old Fisch, who did a nice job getting the Bruins offense cranked up in 2017 into a top-25 group, is now working under Sean McVay with the Los Angeles Rams as a senior offensive assistant, where that system has taken the NFL by storm. Being connected to that system is a nice plus. Lots of his old players also really back him. In addition, Fisch, a Mike Shanahan protĆ©gĆ©, has some strong ties in the Colorado area and recruited Dylan McCaffrey for Michigan.

I donā€™t think Hill is going to like what he finds on Bateman. All things being equal this would cause me to eliminate him as a candidate. This is the type of thing that shady programs like Louisville get caught up in (which they did thanks to Lonnie Galloway).

We should not hire a guy because he accepted information about an opponent? Heck, I want our coach to tip toe that recruiting line with the occasional step over. I want a coach to try to take shortcuts where we get slap on the wrists or warnings. I donā€™t want a straight and narrow coach or program. I donā€™t want crazy things but thereā€™s a gray area where I think we need to be to try to compete.
