Hopefully weāll get to hear what the A-10ās response is. I imagine it will be the standard āwe have reviewed the information carefully⦠we will strive to be better in the futureā typical BS.
I got a āRead confirmationā on my email to McGlade. Sunday about 1:00. Iām a NCAA soccer official so I threw that in there for good measure.
Just gave her the numbers and asked how can that be in a triple OT game.

Canāt believe that any director of officials would put this crew together. This is a c-level crew at best.
Click on their names, you can find out all sorts of info on them.
Kevin OāConnell - works A10 and MAC conferences, 10 games this year, all with A10 teams, 19 last year, 12 with A10 teams
Alvin Cox - works A10 and MEAC conferences, 12 games this year, 6 with A10 teams, 30 last year, 8 with A10 teams
Quintin Murphy - works A10 and Southern conferences, 8 games this year, 3 with A10 teams, 16 last year, 8 with A10 teams
Obviously they are not grading out well or theyād be doing more games. For example some ānameā referees; Roger Ayers - 49 games so far, Mike Kitts - 47 games, Mike Eades - 45 games. Even old white-haired Tim Higgins from the CUSA days has cut back and heās done 26 games already.
Just went back and watched some of the game, turned it off at about the 10 minute mark in regulation because I didnāt want to get pissed again.
I did notice something that really got me, after the āscuffleā between Nicolson and Bras, Alvin Cox the ref goes over and talks to the St. Bonnies coach for a while, it had to be a while because the camera went over and showed them and they are still talking. What happens after that, Bras getās a foul called on a Defensive play against nicolson for his third, then the next exact play Bras getās the ghost Offensive foul right called on him by Alvin Cox who is right in front of him.
Now do you think the St Bonnies coach had anything to do with him getting a call like that, he put something in his ear and the ref is too unexpericned to look at the play and not the player! BS!
For some reason, I went back and watched the game in regulation last night. I mostly only watched our offensive possesions to see our TOās. I counted 4 very questionable TOās and 1 50/50 call. On one play Briscoe was driving towards the basket and was nailed, ball rolls out of bounds, no call. 3 of the TOs were offensive fouls, including Braswellās 4th which was unreal. The other TOās were legit in regulation. Didnāt want to go though the OTās again. We have to cut down on the stupid traveling calls.
Phil and Bras were getting hacked down low multiple times with no fouls called. Dewhurst was fouled twice on the steal and layup he had, where his contact was knocked out. I guess the wind must have knocked it out. Refs also stopped play after Briscoe was smacked in the face, no foul call though. Too many poor calls to list
OK, now that Iāve posted this, I will try to move on. Iāve never been bothered by officiating as much as this game though. It bothered me enough to go back and watch it.
Did any of you guys ever get any replies back to your emails?
We were put in that position the minute we walked on the courtā¦kinda difficult to avoid it when you have no control over it!!!
I sent my message this morning, hoping coller heads would prevailā¦it was still filled with anger!! I certainly remember individual calls that prevented victory in the past, but never an entire half and 3 OTās. A deal was doneā¦I have no doubt.
I encourage everyone to write using the link aboveā¦it may not change the outcome of that horrid game but we may get the benefit of the doubt down the road this season.
I got an out-of-office reply.
I just received this response to my e-mail.

Got the same response.
I got a return phone call today. Nice lady, and assured they would look into it. Thatās all we really wanted/could expect.
UNC-Charlotte, eh?
Good to see she has replied to some of the fans email/calls. Nothing is going to change with the past games but hopefully something will be done going forward.
We apologise for the fault in the refereeing. Those responsible have been sacked.

I am very appreciative of the AD protesting the lousy officiating in the A10. However, I am not sure making this public helps or hurts our cause. Depends on the attitude in the league office. Maybe these protests have been going on in private in the past and the horrible St boonies game was the backbreaking straw leading to public disclosure.

gold star for you.
bravo to Judy Rose, thatās awesome
Iām not trying to be a smartass but when the A10 reviews those games what can they do? Fire the refs would be my guess.
It would be nice if there were such thing as a rematch lol

Since they are regional refs in college D1 basketball and not A10 refs then the A10 could choose not to use those particular officials again or at least for a period of time. I recall a couple of years ago an official was banned by the ACC (meaning the ACC would not contract him for any of their games). The next night though he was working our game and the following a Big South game. The most possible thing would be the A10ās head of oficials would stress certain points to the officials for games in an attempt to keep certain things from happening.
