So it begins.

I hope none of our AAC brethren fall for this.

And if they were smart they would be looking at UTEP and NM State from CUSA for ease of travel.

Listened to the latest Norlander + Parrish “Eye on College Basketball” podcast and mentioned Big Ten probably going to 22-24 conference games in hoops.

Quote from the story.

“ Still, Arizona State athletics will have to do some soul searching as it leaves the West Coast for Flyover Country. ”

Arizona is not on the West Coast.

That’s like saying Knoxville is on the east coast.

Sloppy.

Reading threads on CSNBBS are hilarious.

ASU and Utah seem to have been a little full of themselves.

ASU AD says he’s not going to go to Morgantown WV when they play there. He’s going to delegate that duty.

What a dick.

The hubris of the former PAC schools is amazing.

I can’t wait to see what Cal and Stanford do.

Will they ACTUALLY lower themselves to be in the same conference as SDSU and Boise St.!!!

Oh the horror!!!

I can’t stand how that mvh guy posts - spraying like some kind of autistic fit. So I’m gonna combine them into one. He is talking about the Big 12’s plans here.

PAC poaching still a risk. BY has had talks with all 4 of the remnants and will be vetting this week. Only has ESPN money to spend as FOX has not approved these additions. Espn will get all these games for late night window
Top target Stanford. Also the biggest long shot.
SDSU would be the next in line if Stanford is a no. But won’t be considered if Stanford is a yes.
ORSU has a slight edge over WSU for the final all sports spot
UConn and Gonzaga are being looked at still for basketball. UConn may be out of the running for all sports for now.
Schools would need to join for 2024 so that could be an issue for SDSU.
Forgot to add Cal. Cal is getting vetted but they are dead last choice.

as someone that can be a an academic snob I would love it if the aac could somehow nab stanford and cal

“Our league is such a grind, I know Rutgers went 2-20 in league play but they still deserve to be in the NCAA Tournament.”

I’ve always feared this is where college athletics were headed. The Big Ten & SEC are doing what they can to make sure that none of the revenue goes outside of their two leagues. They don’t want anybody else getting it. It has already been that way….it’s only going to get worse.

I’m admittedly not the best at guessing where these realignment discussions will end. But it’s wild to me that just a few years ago there was talk of the B12 losing its P5 status to now where it has pretty much solidified its status as the 3rd best conference. And the PAC is on its death bed with people thinking the ACC could be next.

Few years ago? That was like 6 months ago. This shit’s getting out of hand fast.

I think for the NCAA tourney they will have a hard time excluding the other power conferences. It would be ridiculous to only have SEC and Big10.

At a bare minimum you would have to have the P4 and The Big East.

There would be holy hell to pay if they tried to exclude beyond that even.

I think they would have to form their own athletic association to do that. And I doubt they want the hassle of doing that.

The most logical thing would for there to be another level of D1 football. 1A for the P4, 1B for the G6, 1C for FCS.

If everyone but the P4 are excluded from playing for the football championship then that might result in a more logical distribution of schools at the next levels down.

That could keep all the Olympics in the same division and tournaments.

I do think that if they try to exclude that there are going to be legal challenges due to restraint of trade.

Definitely see what you’re saying. Guess it’s just the pessimistic side of me based on what’s transpiring out there currently.

They could call it 1AA, seems like I have heard that before

Would be huge if he can pull this off, locks the AAC in at #5.
