Not thinking earlier. San Diego State could choose the Big 12 for its new home:
And now this about SDSU and SMU to the Pac-12:
That would suck. Then Memphis to B12. Yuck.
And we end up right back in CUSA 4.0
But this time… financially…we can’t keep up
Let’s keep one point in mind: With Cincinnati, UCF, BYU, and Houston all moving to the Big 12, SMU — in a watered-down AAC — might actually have a much more reasonable path to the 12-team College Football Playoff if it stays in the AAC.
Not saying it’s worth turning down a big payday increase, but it’s something to think about. Especially if the PAC’s deal and linear exposure are as weak as rumors suggest.
Meanwhile… at Charlotte expansion HQ.

SDSU is the better move for the B12 than some of the other PAC schools mentioned.
Previous “status” may work against them, but you can’t tell me that Colorado, Arizona and Arizona State actually have the same competitive potential that SDSU has.
The ultimate would be if they could get all four of them.
That would relegate the Pac to a distant 5th in the P5 overnight.
Just visited Boulder a couple weeks ago and Buffs football was second only to the Nuggets chasing the title. They are pretty damn hyped about Coach Prime.
Also impossible not to run into any stores there or in Denver and not see black & gold merch. And usually lots of it.
Denied access to Folsom Field:
Tried to sneak in via a construction area… Nope.
Here’s a better picture of their stadium:

They may have sucked lately, but that’s a big time program. I don’t think SDSU has better potential. But I do think SDSU fits well into the profile of a lot of Big 12 schools.
These guys think SDSU and SMU to the PAC12 will be finalized this summer.
Been listening to that podcast since it was originally Forde, Wetzel, and Thamel before the latter left Yahoo Sports for ESPN and apparently either no longer allowed to participate or too busy to do so. Anyway, good stuff on both realignment and Huggins.
According to Like DeCock who covers the ACC for the Raleigh N&O, the recent news stories about Fla St, Miami, and Clemson wanting out may be true but they are not going anywhere. And the recent story about the BIG desiring UNC and VA is of no consequence. He says the GOR cannot be broken, and if it could be broken then some teams may have already left the ACC.
According to Paul Finebaum, the SEC is not interested in Clemson, Miami, or FLA ST. The SEC does not need these teams cause they already have the Gators and Gamecocks.
But we do know that the SEC wants into the states of NC and VA so they can wrap the southeastern states. Also, NC is the ninth most populous state and VA is 12th. But NC is growing much more rapily. NC will
Jump over GA to become the eighth most populous state in years to come. Then in about 10 years NC should be ready to jump over OH as the seventh most populous state.
So, the SEC will be salivating to get into NC. But according to Luke DeCock, the ACC schools are stuck to nearly 2036. But the SEC still wants in I to NC.
Some on here may think that I am crazy, and maybe I am. But I think that if Biff can get our football program to the level to be competitive with the lower and mid-range football programs in the SEC before the date(perhaps 2036) when some ACC schools bolt to other conferences then CLT has a chance to be selected by the SEC before the ACC breaks apart.
It does not hurt that the CLT media market ranks 22nd in the US. It also does not hurt that CLT seems to be playing an SEC team almost every year in football for the foreseeable future. Could this be by design so the SEC can continue to evaluate the CLT football program on a yearly basis.
Also, I know some on here don’t care for Hill. But is it possible that Hill became our AD by design to build the football program.
This may not happen, but this is what I hope for. It would be comical as hell if CLT got selected to one of the two power conferences before UNC and others.
But for this to have a chance of happening, Biff has got to get the foot ball program turned around in the very near future.
clt says we have already been mentioned as a sec candidate
