I don’t disagree with you saying it was a great moment and even historic. I’m just saying if they won that game then sucked for the next 15 years they wouldn’t have the following they have
I think Appalayshun State sucks ass.
Lol. I feel like I’m in the twilight zone.
The fact this ended 50/50 illustrates what a mess college football is in right now if your outside the p4 (some would say outside the p2 (Clemson and FSU).
There is no clear path forward for the schools that have no hope of competing for a national championship and also don’t have the advantage of p4 money to prop up their operations.
And that goes for basketball as well as football.
Let 32 schools break away.
Reset the remaider of college football.
This could be great for both groups.
NCAA (outside the top 32) have a huge advantage. That is, the largest population of college football fans. Don’t underestimate loyalty.
If marketed correctly, the “left behind” division could be awesome.
Our success would then be directly rated to our conference. We can still become a powerhouse in college athletics.
Who are the left behind programs we would want in our conference?
Preach brother.
It’s the best way forward for us. 90 some programs playing college football instead of NFL Lite.
It’s the best option in a bad situation, and I agree with all of your points.
As far as who?
The smartest way forward is to fully regionalize… Along with every ACC, Big 12, SEC and B1G castoff. Will reduce expenses and improve fan engagement. Some of us will actually like it better than the old way for that reason.
Just give us all of the left behinds in the Carolinas plus VA. 9 or 10 schools. Play everyone every year in football and home and away in hoops. That’ll be a banger of a college conference.
We cannot give up our advantage.
We are more of a national brand than most in our region. We need to pair with similar Universities, not colleges that are just close.
We cannot dilute ourselves by aligning with non-similar schools just because they are close.
I like Wake, Duke, ECU, Georgia Tech, SMU, Memphis, others?
8 of the top 8 schools with highest increase for demand of football tickets on StubHub, are schools that are part of recent conference realignment. Ticket sales over all are up by 40%. People criticizing SMU and Texas decisions should think again.

Sorry, but I don’t see us as a National brand. Not even remotely
clt says academics matter
I concur with Hootie on this.
You stated:
We need to pair with similar Universities, not colleges that are just close.
We have been doing that for 30 years.
USF, UAB, FIU, Memphis, UTSA, FAU, ODU, VCU, GWU, UTEP, North Texas, etc.
If you look at our biggest and most engaged crowds at football games they have been against schools that are closer.
clt says ncsu is going to going that group soon, and likely carolina
City of Charlotte.
Schoolsl size.
Academics.
We have more relevance than most local schools.
We need to protect what we have gained.
Dude. No one is suggesting we go into a conference with Catawba, Lenoir Rhyne or Charleston Southern.
But I think you’re a bit off base on our national and regional profile.
If we landed in a conference with all the non breakaway FBS schools in VA, NC, SC and possibly GA we would be doing pretty damn good.
From a football perspective, schools that we would aspire to have some similar success; Coastal, App & Ga state that are ‘local’.
Btw Ga St AD has done a really good job bringing in coaches during his tenure, for the revenue generating sports. His new FB coach may be another one, Dell Mcgee (besides his UGA experience he mentored under Fritz former Tulane HC). I would guess we dont call other ADs to ask for hiring advice, whom do we ask for advice?
What does a local conferrnce lineup look like?
App, Georgia State, ECU, Marshall, Coastal Carolina, Wake…
Just curious what this vision may look like.

Is UCONN going to mess up their mojo by leaving the Big East???
