Their enrollment is about 40k or about the same size as Texas Tech. They have the facilities. San Marcos is a solid market.
I think Texas State is a sleeper in realignment. The PAC schools would love to be able to recruit in Texas.

UTEP beatwriter Brett Bloomquist says $2 million exit fee, so much lower than the $8 million Vannini reported.
And UTEP AD asked about NM State:
True.
See that Auerbach and McMurphy have been having a āTwitter Spatā as concerns the reporting of Gonzaga to the Pac-12. While nothing new, still pretty silly when it does happen and shows sportswriters have egos as well.
OK, MW, just take NM State. Itās a no brainer.
I hope this isnāt a real proposal that could actually happen
WSJ has a piece published today, which is behind a paywall.
The Athletic piece from earlier this year is also behind a paywall:
Trade Kennesaw St for JMU and I would be alright with that. Would prefer to see more schools left out of the top level, but I guess I could live with something like this proposal.
Not one representative from G5 schools.
This is just as ridiculous as the proposal to make the G5 pay for former P5 players.
And for the same reason.
Maybe, but thatās a crap basketball league. And there isnāt a single other major metro institution - ODU would be the closest thing.
No offense to Kennesaw State but YUCK.
I want Wake in the same league as Charlotte and ECU and then we can talk.
Went back and re-read The Athletic pieces from April about the CST proposal to oversee college FBS level football. Definitely has some movers and shakers behind the idea but the bottom line is the Big Ten and SEC are looking to divorce themselves from the current setup and arenāt going to be a part of any such operation. Guess it could provide the āLeft Behindā an outline for preliminary exploration into how a football-only league might look.
If I am any of those schools I am waiting for the ACC implosion. Especially Tulane. They are a near lock to get in. Probably USF too.
If these schools bolt to the PAC, it actually probably helps us because it thins out the replacement candidates/ options for the ACC.
