I want a Carolinas league. If that’s too small for today’s environment, add VA teams.

No, no Liberty. Also, if it gets this big, you have to do divisions which I don’t care for either. 9 is probably the perfect size for a league (play everyone, every year), though 10 is workable (drop a non conference game or rotate out 1 team each year).
Really depends. It’s less that a team steps down as much as if the top of the p4 steps up. Wake forest has no business in being in the same division as Clemson. If this is all about maximizing revenue then the schools they drive the revenue for the P4 at some point are going to walk.
Liberty is would probably be the best bet. Instant drama, good fanbase, big budget, and CUSA school. Their academics/politics would be the bigger issues. I’m also pro VCU as a basketball only add to balance Army.

After the ACC dissolves, we pick up Duke and Wake Forest, create one conference, split into two, east and west or north and south, eight teams each, the rest of the ACC goes into various conferenes based upon prestige and fit, SEC, B1G, Big 12, Pac 12, let the far western AAC teams join the Pac 12 ( UTSA, Rice, North Texas, Tulsa, ) , this is the best that we can hope for, a regional conference with the left overs from the ACC, and cherry picking from the Sun belt
