clt agrees. smu paid bigly money to jump aboard a sinking ship
The funny thing is if all thei big SMU donors had been donating at a high level they wouldnât have had to buy their way in. They would have been just invited.
My bet is that SOAR the eagle will be on the sideline for each school or something goofy.
yes, all worthy donations from Niblock (and from him, not the company)âŚand even if it WERE from the company, it still would not be what most people would call a âlarge scaleâ donation considering the size/worth of Lowes.
So, I guess Memphis learned nothing from ECU whoring out itself a couple of years ago?
Yes but they are positioned to leap frog many ACC schools (they have already done that in football) and be in play for the final break off if it happens.
I think SMU is perfectly happy with the current situation.
They sold the farm, but it is going to look like a genius move 5 years from now.
Memphis is trying to use the SMU playbook but it may be a little to late.
They donât have the money to use the SMU playbook and still finance a B12 athletic department.

I think this happens. Not sure where Charlotte lands after the dust settles. The ACC as we know it will die. As Charlotte fans weâve hated on the ACC over the years and justifiably so but the ACC has played a role in the history of this state. The never ending chaos of conference realignment continues.
i honestly thought theyâd go for the big 10 rather than sec.
clt says the big10 has academic standards
Watch the CFP autobid debate. However that plays out will have everything to do with where all the NC schools end up.
If the SEC and B1G take over the playoff, everyone not in those two leagues is irrelevant.
UNC-CH will be a target of both the SEC and Big Ten. The winner will be the one that can provide the most money.
I never would have imagined the Big XII would outlast the Pac XII and ACC when Texas and OU left.
If the ACC actually or effectively disbands, I think the Big 12 will grab a bunch of ACC schools to create an eastern division with WVU, UCF, and Cincy.
We can possibly merge or somehow else reorganize with the ACC leftovers.
Well, it did, then it invited UNL ![]()
Presumably thatâs why Big 12 isnât going after Memphis, because they believe there will be ACC leftovers.
Some of the current ACC schools will not find a new home. Do those remnant ACC schools poach the AAC similar to what is happening in the PAC12? Does this domino effect destroy the AAC? Weâll see how it plays out.
