Interesting that a 40 year old campus (est. 1986) of the University System of Ohio will transition directly from NAIA to D2.
The move marks the end of Shawnee State’s long-standing affiliation with the NAIA, which had served as the university’s competitive home since athletics were introduced in 1988-89. During its NAIA tenure, Shawnee State captured national titles in men’s basketball, women’s basketball, and men’s indoor track and field, and produced more than 90 NAIA All-Americans.
Seems to keep getting more expensive. 
This Sacramento state situation is wild.
if they don’t have really good donor support to bolster this move, this could become an epic disaster.
Donors or not, I could never see UNC Charlotte making a move like this.
