His point that gets cut off is that they are already losing money - why add any more programs?
That would be wonderful but I don’t see it happening. I can’t even imagine how much that would cost each university to buy their way out of the P2 conferences. Only way I see that happening is if they are taking enough members from each conference to get the votes to dissolve the conference.
Florida Polytechnic University in Lakeland is launching an NAIA level intercollegiate athletics program this fall. Institution started out as a branch campus of the University of South Florida.
The Florida Poly Phoenix will field teams in baseball, basketball, cross country, soccer, and softball.

Change the league names to decrease the level of butthurt.
Would love to see this as a 5 year experiment. 9 League games plus 3 non League games where you could schedule for any old rivalries this leaves out (not as many as you’d think).
I think some fans are afraid of how much they’d like this.
And I strongly believe this would be the best conference in college sports:
Because of historical dominance? No.
But it would quickly evolve into the league with the strongest, most enjoyable rivalries, which would make it must watch. I’m certain of it.
I love the color balance too. Each school has a distinct palette.
NA I love this guys optimism, hopefulness, rosy outlook or however it’s characterized. But, this would like me listing 4 of my actual old girlfriends and putting Liz Hurley, Halle Berry, Elle Macpherson, Christie Brinkley and Cindy Crawford too. lol
Interesting that Racers are adding sports that aren’t sponsored by the Valley.
I know the geographic conferences are a pipe dream for college football, but would something similar be more realistic for non-revenue sports? Because that would be great for soccer, track, etc. (tweaked for schools sponsoring those sports).
It might also be a way to break up what teams remain if a super conference breaks away, though there would still be a lot of gnashing teeth. A contrast with the sub-pros by focusing on what made college sports great before could eventually be marketable once rivalries develop and be less expensive to run.
If it goes down like I think it would That would be letting the P4 have their cake and eat it too. They get to regionalize and cut cost for non revenue sports while maintaining their geographically diverse revenue sports landscape.
While the rest of us have to maintain full conference sport affiliation.
Maybe.
If the G6 is allowed to do the same and or join in truly geographically defined non rev conferences then fine.
Like if that geographic “ACC” conference defined above was for all but men’s basketball and football that would be fine I guess.
They could call it something like Olympics SE 1 or something like that. Doesn’t even need a trad name.
I’m really not sure why they had to call out any conference or conferences by name. It could have just said that conferences will not be allowed to merge to form a super league that creates a monopoly or unfair competition. Or at least that a merger like that would have to be approved just like mergers of large corporations. No need to name names. The guilty parties with evil intentions know who they are.
Well, this certainly throws a monkey wrench into the long range plans of Memphis and USF, as well as programs like UConn. Wonder how the Tigers feel now after having sent Huff to DC to publicly support the PCSA.
