Do you remember the Zune? What a great product that was. Ahead of its time too. Plus it worked great with all my other Microsoft devices, which are all reasonably priced, convenient, and easy to use.
Iâve been a registered Independent for years. The intense rivalry between the two main parties isnât anything new. I think social media just makes the arguing easier. Iâm just shocked that Independents arenât growing faster because the old 2 party system wastes so much time on arguing.

SM has def amplified it. If there was a loud moderate voice we would probably see the Independent moderates grow a bit louder. Instead the people in the middle keep holding their noses and think to follow one side or the other.

The question is how many of the elderly and sick would have died anyway? I have had two friends who have had parents die of Covid, both were probably going die soon anyway. Iâve yet to see some number about Covid that subtracts the likely deaths that would have happened either way.

I think the real question is in these stats, how many died WITH covid vs. how many died BECAUSE of covid. I think even that number is fuzzy because of people who died of other issues enhanced by covid.

The excess death data would give you a pretty good idea of how many âextraâ people died. From the CDC: https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/nvss/vsrr/covid19/excess_deaths.htm
Thereâs a pretty obvious signal at the start of the pandemic when NYC got hit so hard, and then again during the outbreaks over the summer and again this past winter. Itâs also consistent regionally with where the outbreaks were occurring if you look at the state data. Thereâs a lot of interesting patterns here, including the sharp decline with the initial shutdowns, and just how bad this past winter was. The blip back in 2018 was that yearâs particularly bad flu season, note how minuscule that is relative to COVID.
Note: the U. of Washington study linked above also took into account the lower fatality rates in other areas due to pandemic precautions (suicides were down last year, fewer traffic and workplace accidents, a non-existent flu season, etc.), as well as estimates of the number of people who died due to precautions (e.g. afraid to go to the doctor to get health issues checked). These two things appear to mostly cancel each other out.

I once had an Islamic history professor try to justify a terrorist attack in Kenya that killed at 80 something year old nun as not that bad because she probably would have died soon anyway.
At what age do we stop valuing life and tell people their lives arenât that important anymore? I want to mark it on my calendar so I know when Iâm expendable.

The sad thing is that we believe politicians and those in charge have our true best interests at heart. I just donât know when we decided that people elected to govern were the ultimate in smarts. It just ainât so. Sorry to burst some bubbles but just because a person like Fauci says something, doesnât necessarily make it so. Especially when they turn around and contradict themselves in the next breath.
These masks are the equivalent to âduck and coverâ. It is designed to make us feel like we are doing something good to save ourselves and others but they donât really work all that well. Hence the need to wear 2 or 3 of them at a time per the good doctor. Geez! Fauci is the equivalent of âBert the Turtle.
I truly think it is amazing that based on a certain person (which will remain nameless) questioning science has now put this country in a situation that all medicine and medical professionals are to be mistrusted. I guess Cancer, MS, Diabetes, etc should all be ignored from the point further because it is too, a Democratic ploy to stay submissive. I still stand by my earlier point, if you donât want to wear a mask or get the vaccine, then donât. If you want a vaccine and believe in the mask, then wear it. Neither of us are going to convince the other side that they are wrong. If those that donât want the vaccine come to their demise from COVId, then Darwinism will be their fate and not a tear should be shed. If those of us that took the vaccine grow a third eye, then our Darwinism will be in plain view for others to mock. Full stop, so letâs move on and talk about something else.

It isnât less value, itâs that these folks were going to die in the next 12 months either with Covid around or not. They were sick, really sick. Anything - the flu, Covid, pneumonia, a fall, whatever that is around would take them out. We can count them in Covid, but reality is without Covid they would have still died of something else in the same window. That isnât less value of life, that is reality about the end of life.
