Covid Vaccine Poll

ED causes ED

Fully vaccinated people no longer need to wear a face mask or stay 6 feet away from others in most settings, whether outdoors or indoors, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said in updated public health guidance released Thursday.

“If you are fully vaccinated, you can start doing the things that you had stopped doing because of the pandemic. We have all longed for this moment, when we can get back to some sense of normalcy.”

Come in Gov Cooper. Over.

Was about to post the same thing.

Note that the story does say that you should still wear them in crowded settings.

NPR: Fully Vaccinated People Can Stop Wearing Masks Indoors And Outdoors, CDC Says.

Basically the CDC just caught up with what ive been doing since I got fully vaccinated.

Only 2-3 months behind

Yeah, for the first 3 months we were told it was “fake” by someone in a high national office. Remember?

Just read where Bill Maher is fully vaccinated and tested positive. He is asymptomatic and feels fine. This is the type crap that makes folks wonder. They won’t admit to false positives. They rather say even if you are vaccinated you can carry it Yada Yada. Its all about creating a fear, not creating facts.

Who said the vaccine was 100% effective? It was advertised as making the 5% or so cases contracted after vaccination milder and less life threatening.

Like Maher’s case.

“I think one of the things we’re seeing is that being vaccinated en masse like we are, we’re seeing the vaccinations also kind of blunt the effects of the virus,” Boone said in a press conference on Wednesday. “I feel like in a lot of ways, because we’re vaccinated, we’re kind of good and able to deal with this. So there’s a little bit of a frustrating part there, in all the testing that we’re gonna do.”

The CDC’s announcement is trying to provide incentive for hesitant people to get vaccinated, IMO.

If it doesn’t work, we are never going to reach herd immunity via vaccination, and will have to rely on the virus running through enough of the population to do so, which will mean more deaths, but even more concerning, more variants. This is the outcome we have been trying to avoid since day one.

As Boone said above, the vaccine is blunting the worst of the symptoms.

The Yankees received the J&J single shot vaccine, which is the least effective of the 3 being distributed in the USA.

Would be more surprised if this happened after getting the Pfizer vaccine.

:man_facepalming:

A stupid statement that fuels fears of government just wanting to be in control.

I see what the CDC is trying to do but it’s not going to help I don’t think. If you haven’t been vaccinated by now I don’t think you’re likely to get vaccinated. And if I’m vaccinated why do I care if you’re vaccinated or not.

The masks are off and it’s going to be incredibly difficult to weed out non-vaccinated versus vaccinated.

Let people chose and just move on

It’s extremely unlikely that the Yankees had 8 breakthrough cases. Bordering on impossible. It will be a good case study to see what actually happened.

I agree. Highly implausible. Maybe elevated antibodies or something similar but 8 cases doesn’t compute.

What’s funny is the CDC can’t even define “fully vaccinated”. The efficacy of the Moderna and Pfizer is 94-95%. The J&J is 65-70%. Yet a person is defined as being fully vaccinated with either of the 3 :man_shrugging:

It all seems to be a political charade at this point. Change the messaging weekly and hope to persuade an intended behavior and outcome.

It’s not political. It’s really frustrating to see that argument trotted out over and over again. Their only agenda is to get people vaccinated and beat the virus. That’s it.

I will be back to volunteering for the Speedway Children’s Charities at the Coca-Cola 600 in a couple of weeks. I drive a golf cart giving guests rides across the property. Being vaccinated, and outside, I am not worried about doing this, but I would love to know whether the population of fans is more or less vaccinated than Americans at large. It would be an interesting case study.

CDC waited too long on this message. When the vaccines were being rolled out the message needed to be get this and be in the clear. They are scrambling to try to drive up the vaccinations and I don’t think it is really going to capture many more folks. The people that haven’t got it at this point probably aren’t terribly interested in getting the shot.

Dropping the mask requirements is the best way to drive up vaccinations though. We need some of the anti maskers and folks that think this is all fake to get sick and scare them enough to go get vaccinated. The best way into the anti vaxer community is having them get sick. It’s morbid, but a certain amount of their deaths and such is required.

As a likely immune, doubly vaccinated person - open everything back up. Let the people that don’t want it get sick and LFG.

The different shots though is weird J&J 65%-70% while the the 2 shots are over 90% but the first shot of the 2 shots gets ya to between 50-60, close to the single &J but yet the J&J is considered fully vaccinated but one shot of the 2 is not.
