Covid Vaccine Poll

CNBC: 1 in 3 Covid survivors suffers neurological or mental disorders, study finds.

The results were based on an observational study of more than 230,000 patient health records

After taking into account underlying health characteristics, such as age, sex, ethnicity and existing health conditions, there was overall a 44% greater risk of neurological and mental health diagnoses after Covid than after flu, and a 16% greater risk after Covid than with respiratory tract infections.

Certainly concerning but I would be interested to see what the general population number is as well after all the lockdowns. It could be driven more by the actual quarantine than COVID.

See study below on the mental health of the general population. Done early in the lockdown so I would expect larger numbers now.

The final sample consisted of 20,720 participants. Among them, 12.4% of respondents ( N = 2,555) reported severe or extremely severe levels of depressive symptoms, 17.6% ( N = 3,627) of anxiety symptoms and 41.6% ( N = 8,619) reported to feel at least moderately stressed by the situation at the DASS-21.

Smart to give the J&J one on campus since it’s one shot, unless students are more responsible now than I was when I was there haha.

I got the J&J this morning. Nice shot of Gates in the left arm.

No issues this far nor do I expect any.

clt says connect the dots. the student’s gift card was to the microsoft store

Cool. WIfe and I are going down to NC in may to get the J&J shot. I’m not in any hurry and getting appointments up my way, at least for J&J shot, is a pain.

Kinda suprised institutions like UNCC would give the shot with a gift to lure kids in. I think the vaccine is generally safe, but legally how do you defend yourself if students have an unwanted reaction 5-10 years from now? I guess kids have to sign a waiver?
The long term science is yet to be determined. Nobody expected the Astrazeneca vaccine fiasco in Europe.

“It’s incredibly frustrating,” Dr. Ashish Jha told CNBC’s “The News with Shepard Smith.” “I think I was starting to say by last April and May, many of us in public health, stop wiping down surfaces.”

The constant wiping down of surfaces. People wiping down groceries. :frowning:

Guidance that admittedly should’ve been changed 12 months ago. Just another example of what I am talking about.

if you wipe down your groceries…you might need to speak to someone

Why does someone else wiping down groceries bother you? Does it effect you in some way???

Not at all. Just pointing out a pattern of irrational behavior relating to COVID 19.

Just make sure you don’t fall asleep during future firmware updates or your chip will corrupt

clt says microwaving things kills the “covid”

doesn’t bother me, but thats about as wack as it gets…just sayin

I said several months ago that people who make light of this virus should work a week… Heck even a day, in a Covid ICU ward in a hospital.

I’ve yet to meet or talk to anyone who has done so or is married / related to someone who has done so who takes the virus or any precautions against it as frivolous or ridiculous. In fact, most of them are heartbroken and aghast at just how selfish, ignorant, and myopic some people can be. Watching helplessly as otherwise healthy people die will do that to you.
