but a lot of our current agression should be channeled towards his superiors up in Chapel Hill.I think MOST of us on this board agree with that statement.
I think the problem many of us have is DuBois himself comes across as siding with those chapel hillians instead of wanting to do whatâs best for âUNCCâ.
Moral of the story for ANYBODY who wants whats best for UNC Charlotte is⌠vote for Pat McCrory!!!
I think he will probably have his hands full with other issuesâŚalso, he is not going to make such a big deal out of this type of issue if he gets elected.
Heâs terribleâŚplease send him back where he came fromâŚ
I think he will probably have his hands full with other issues.....also, he is not going to make such a big deal out of this type of issue if he gets elected.
He certainly will have âother issuesâ to deal with, but the appropriation of state funds is one of the biggest, whether its for roads or universities and Pat knows how Charlotte has been âhelpedâ through the years by Raleigh.
So, huuummm, let me think, would it be more likely that we could get help from someone from our own hometown who has publicly stated he wants to change our name to UoC and continually has stated what a great asset we are and can become, or someone from another area of the state who couldnât care any less (or worse) about us or our city?..I think Iâll take my chances with Pat!

So we shouldnât vote for McCrory? Or we should vote for a Chapel Hill grad? This is the perfect example why some issues associated with the school never get accomplished. If people who are 49er fans donât want whatâs best for the school, why would we think anybody else would?

Well said.
I just noticed CHP hit a 10% Approval Rating. Thatâs a ârapid increaseâ when you consider it was not much above 5% a few days ago.
I wonder if he has seen or heard about this poll.

I donât recall saying whom you should vote for, actually I didnât say anything close to that. I was just making a point that if he wins the election, then he will have his hands full with running the state. I have no idea if he will be concerned with the city of Charlotte, much less other issues. That would be something to ask him before you vote for him and potentially get disappointed.

I think itâs kind of funny how so many people are stoked on Mccrory because heâs said good things about our school before as Mayor. He wonât say a thing about it as Governor. Is it mentioned anywhere on his campaign website? Has he stated any campaign goals whatsoever about UNC Charlotte? No, all heâs done is tout the âthe difference is leadershipâ mantra.
Mccrory will not change the name of the school, he will not get us a football team, and just because he lived in Charlotte does not mean he would be a friend of UNC Charlotte if elected.
Of course, a whole nother argument is whether or not our executive branch should even spend time considering such things as football and university monikers, when thereâs other more pressing and constitutional issues to worry about.

No, it has nothing to do with football or name changing, this is about providing funding from the state, which we should receive and lately havenât. McCrory could help us with that.
if he does get elected I wouldnt expect anything until well within his term - I would hope however, that he would be a supporter in our funding issue - though I dont know how much his position is involved in the funding issue itself (basically meaning I dont know how âout of his wayâ he would have to go to see if a somewhat minute issue within the state is handled)

WAIT!!! What am I saying? Nah⌠probably not.
McCrory could help us with that.
could is a big loophole particularly because he would face a democratic legislature and a likely budget shortfall

Sideshow, nobody said anything about him helping us get football and if you know ANYTHING about NC politics, you would know that Charlotte has been âscrewedâ for decades. How can any reasonable person not think that AT THE VERY LEAST we increase our chances of getting our fair share if we get a longtime Charlotte guy as governor (ie; it is certainly better than keeping the status quo!)?
Im curious, If the chancellor announces we are starting up a football program in Sept. does you vote and opinion change??

My vote could possibly change and my opinion would obviously change. Why wouldnât it?
Thatâs kind of the whole purpose of approval polls in general. You should never just blindly follow someone without weighing their performance, good and bad. Up âtill now, Duboisâ performance has been pretty bad.

Youâre right, you didnât say that. But what you did do is tell somebody who thinks it would be good for UNCC for McCrory to be governor that it isnât a factor. So I was asking if you were saying they shouldnât vote for McCrory.
Nobody thinks that the name change is going to be on the top of his agenda. If a candidate has 100 different selling points, and only one of them is that he supports a name change for the university, thatâs one in favor of him over the other candidates.

So are you saying that a former mayor of Charlotte wouldnât be more pro Charlotte than a candidate from another part of the state? Because most of the people through out the state do think this. Historically thatâs always been a problem for a candidate from Charlotte. Most of the people through out the state see us as the Great State of Mecklenburg. That we have our own agenda, different from the rest of the state.
