Question: Didn’t the coach we just fired get an interview at ECU? Or was that all a rumor?
If so, I think that speaks for itself.
…and Joe Dooley who we fired as our head coach came up in your search as well…
I didn’t like it at first honestly, I wanted a guy with head expereince, but Ruff had proven he wouldn’t crumble under the presssure as the head man, and won the bowl game as interim head coach in a tough situation, so he had some experience. NOW when I found out he would bring most of the staff intact from a national contender and was commited to running the Texas Tech offense and had the guys to do it I was sold. He’s and ECU alum, sometimes you have to take a chance on your own too but it’s a risk. Think we lucked out though and didn’t hire our ECU version of Benny Moss.
Way off topic but how the hell does a college football coach get to be as big as Ruffin McNeill, Mark Mangino, and I’m sure there are others. I watched ECU’s first game this year against Tulsa I think and they showed Ruffin and I was shocked that he could stand on the sidelines for the duration of the game. I mean they are outside I would assume walking around for the better part of two hours a day and have access to weight rooms and training facilities.
Fact is you had a very modest d1aa plan for your program, and you had to go to plan B because you couldn’t raise the funds and meet those original d1aa level goals. It was on the fence if you’d even get your program off the ground on the d1aa level. Look around there is a reason most of those school d1aa schools don’t move up. If you guys are barely able to support an d1aa program, you guys got a long ways to go before you can support a D1a football program.
Great point. Doesn't change the fact that your basketball program is absolutely awful, plays in a dump, and posts depressing records year after year.
I've been to all the area basketall arena's including the top ones rbc, dean dome greensboro etc. It's not a dump, even my nc state brother in law says minges is a great place to see a game. When we were in old cusa huggins and pitino said it was one of the toughest places to play along with your place. Those where the two he huggins mentioned as the toughest to play, and pitino said it was a great venue to play a game. Nothing wrong with our baskeball arena.

Your school on the other hand INTERVIEWED our fired coach.

We now are getting a permanent foundation for our stadium instead of temporary options that would have to be replaced.

Why is it always some ass-clown from App or ECU that wants to try to shit on our football aspirations? Should be easy as hell to get 50,000 drunk rednecks to go to a football game in the Greenville-Washington, NC metropolis. What else is there to do there on a Saturday, screw a cousin? They have 2 working TVs and 1 working car per trailer park so who wouldn’t get drunk and walk down the street to the game? Please Jonesing! Please! Please! Please! Tell us all about the massive state-wide TV market ECU football has, just like you tell the Big East fans!
