Eddie Basden stock falling again

I was CRUSHED that the chances of a lockout next season ended last week. The nba: 9 months a year of punks and crap and crap and punks. (Except for Tim Duncan: class act.)
amen brother, amen, thats why the nba is all about entertainment noe, (i.e. will s mith). I wouldn't even call it basketball, its moving closer to the WWE. Long live college ball, the highest form of basketball and probably drawing better ratings.

Jeremy Roenick can kiss my ass and so can the nba

I am hoping that Rodney White’s disappointing career would not scare teams off from picking Basden. Rodney came into the league lacking in fundamentals.

The recent pro prospects we have produced (Henry, DeMarco, Galen, Rodney, etc) have all had holes in their games that could not be overcome.

Teams may think twice about taking a chance on a player from our program. That is probably unfair to Eddie.

Eddie’s obvious shortcoming is his lack of an outside shot. With work, he can overcome that. Michael Redd was not that great a shooter coming out of college.

man nba scouts don’t know a good player if he is teabaggin them in the mouth…geez i thought eddie would have been a shoe in for the first two rounds at least

Eddie's obvious shortcoming is his lack of an outside shot.

That and I don’t think he performed well in the draft camps. It hurt him having a lot of high schoolers jump in due to the age limit. I wish him the best.

If Eddie is meant for the NBA then he’ll make it like Wilkins (NCSU & UGA) did but if not then good luck in Europe.

no need to cry about why he didn’t drafted…

NBA doesn’t want defense, although if they were to look at who their recent Champs are, they could get a clue on how to win games. I think that Eddie will get some good workouts with teams and hopefully make someone’s roster. Heck, the Bobcats should pick him up because they don’t have any options that are good scorers either.

How does Travis Deiner get drafted and not Eddie. The NBA is sad. I better get a try-out.

Diener is good enough...but I can't speak for all those high school players who haven't proven themselves. I still see Eddie finding a way on to a NBA team .

ok if the nba wanted defense, why wasnt eddie basden (best defender in that weak draft) picked up by anyone?

the nba doesnt want defense, they want scoring and potential

“the nba doesnt want defense, they want scoring and potential”

I think the mentality is that defense can be taught while scoring prowess is often based on natural ability.

I think there is some merit to that. That is why defensive oriented players are typically not high draft picks.

On the bright side, the bobcats still could pick Eddie up!

Look how many foreign players went in this draft! Especially in the second round. The NBA going abroad these days makes it a little more tougher for guys like Basden to land a spot. Sad but True!! Many teams will take their chances on these foregin guys!

Basden will be alright!

Surprising draft on some fronts…

Jones out of St Joes didnt get picked up, I know he didnt sign with an agent, so I guess thats back to school for him. That will shift some power in A10 next season.

Also, Kennedy Winston didnt get drafted…Wow. When I saw us play Bama, I thought for sure he was NBA bound. He was a rising senior too, I wonder if he’s still eligible to go back to school…

If these 2 guys were still declared for the draft after the deadline in early June, agent or no agent, they are ineligible to return to school. Guess they were fed a little bit of misinformation…

According to ESPN during the draft, you can choose to not sign with an agent and return to school, even if you are picked. The team that picked you retains your rights for up to five years.

I don’t know the NCAA’s rules on that, however.

I think Eddie has a great shot at making a roster, but I think he’d do better by going to Europe. He will be a rich man in Europe… just ask Henry.

I thought that it was for high school players only. It seemed like they only said that when high school guys were picked. Not sure though.

I don’t have a real problem with Diener being draft. My problem about Eddie not being draft is that a guy from LA- Lafayette getting drafted. i don’t reminder a guy on that team that was good enough to play in the NBA.

I think it only for high school players too. CJ Miles(high school kid) was drafted in the early 2nd. They said that he had not signed with an agent and if he was not picked in the 1st round, then he would go to Texas.
