FIRE LAMBERT!!!!!!!!!!!

I just don’t understand. How can we fall as far as we’ve fallen, and our peers rise the way they’ve risen, and anybody involved with the department feel good about things.

I would love to pick one of their brains and just have a very honest conversation. I’m sure there’s stuff we don’t know about, and I know their jobs are hard. In fact, they are really freaking hard, that’s why in most places they are super competitive. I just want to know what they think. Lord if they would be more honest with us about things, we might be more forgiving. Instead we get #stealthAD
All of this is true. The issue is we have the EXACT SAME PEOPLE in the SAME positions for YEARS. There isn’t an active desire to improve our situation. It is the very nature by which Judy runs the AD. While there are good people trying their best, the fact is their best hasn’t been good enough and they have a leader that either actively or passively is perfectly fine with the results because she has a fundamental view of her role that differs from us and it is partly or mostly because her entire career is a product of title IX. As long as Judy thinks her job is the student athlete experience at the expense of all other goals then we will be in this position.

Her staff is undermanned but they make poor use of their resources. Her marketing department in some ways has their hands tied by her views on non-revenue sports, especially women’s sports. The view that they deserve our support rather than attempting to build a reason to support them is at the very core of their issues. The unwillingness to go conquer Charlotte and the happiness with Harrisburg as a pocket of support indicates their extent of their vision. The 49er club stagnation has been a non-issue for us for years, even though the school is turning out more and more graduates. They take any detractors with $ or influence and attempt to make them “friends” rather than dealing with the underlying issues, which they mostly succeed in and thereby mute the dissenters. The odd times when they protect their brand - see reluctance to work with alumni groups and unwillingness to use portajohns but then an out right recklessness with the brand, see shades of green, sloppy curtains, production issues. Lack of desire to fight through when roadblocks arise and just sloppy execution of tasks. A stunningly amazing lack of imagination. Total mismanagement of a mens basketball program that is borderline criminal when you look at contract handling. The mens program decline alone is a fire-able offense. And all of this rises to Phil’s level who has been completely content to let it ride because he does not prioritize winning and simply wants athletics to not bother him and as long as the majority of their funding is guaranteed by student fees he is pretty much able to not concern himself with athletics as long as they keep their nose clean and the coaches don’t rock the boat (see Lutz).

To fall as far as we have takes more than a few people not being good at their jobs. It takes a total disregard for a winning culture. The goals of our AD and the goals of much of this fan base, or what is left of it, is not aligned in the slightest.
To piggyback on your 49er Club lack of growth comment. The student 49er Club isn’t getting it done either. I am roommates with one of their President’s I guess and I make it very clear that they do not do enough for the student 49er Club to be relevant.
Why would I pay $20 to sit in a section where no one stands up and cheers like a REAL student section??? Sure great seats, but I’d want to stand the whole time and heckle the opposing team which I do quite a bit of.
The failure of the student 49er Club to gain any real traction since I have been here may translate to the lack of growth in 49er Club numbers.
One idea though. I grew up a Miami Hurricanes fan, I think they have the Hurricane Club. Their AD/Athletic Department a few years ago launched an initiative to increase membership and donations. It worked, they reached record numbers every year in members and donations for 4-5 years in a row and it allowed them to have enough capital to finally get an indoor practice facility.
I’m not saying what they did would work, but why don’t the people at the 49er Club call up Miami and ask what they did to get those kind of results? Maybe some of what they did would work here.
Just my own thoughts though.

Perhaps they could use more passionate students such as yourself to spearhead things.

The Student49er club currently is worthless. They’re great guys that care but we either need a more significant effort from the school to back them or we need to start winning. Really a mix of both would be great!

I actually was planning on it since my roommate answers to the guy who runs the 49er Club.

Yes yes and yes. At least they put those losers who wanted us to sit down in the student section and put them over in that section…telling other students to sit down in the student section at a bball game is the culture we have here.

Sounds like you both could make an impact by joining the group and helping find ways to improve things. It needs diehards.

We need a something organized from start to finish that encourages students to be involved and at games. The Baylor line is a perfect example. They indoctrinate students the moment they go on a tour and push involvement including custom jerseys for each student. That’s the way to go!

clt says we should provide free avocados to anyone’s who joins the student 49er club.

I agree, that’s such a great idea…but with how cheap our school is we couldn’t do that but we could do a number of other things. We’ve gotta get these kids to bleed Niner Green(whatever shade it may be) and dumb Carolina, State and other schools.
It infuriates me seeing Carolina stuff on campus. Funny my roommate who runs the student 49er Club regularly wears UNC gear on campus.

I’ll see if I can borrow my mom’s grommet puncher. Just need something to hang it with.
Zip ties on the rails would work. Weight the end that hangs a little so the wind doesn’t screw up it
You know they read the board right? I wouldnt be surprised if they post campus cops at the decks to make sure this doesnt happen.
I’d love to see that level of paranoia.
When they got wind of a billboard a few years ago they told companies if they ran it the AD wouldn’t use them in the future.

The billboard wasn’t even taking a shot at Judy! Their paranoia is thru the roof!
I rarely post on here, mostly read, but I would be willing to explore the plane banner again. One of my tenants is a flight instructor at a local airport so I’m sure I could get this done. I’m fed up and can’t take the mediocrity anymore. I’ll cover the cost as this will be a part of my contribution to the school(improving our athletic department). Thought’s?

I’m willing to throw in to make it happen. Let’s go for it. The sooner it flys, the better.

#FIREJUDYROSE

As I type, CHP is looking into gettting a surface to air missile.

clt knows a guy who can get flares and other defensive mechanisms for the banner plane.

If you need any help financially let me know (PM me), completely down and supportive.

clt would offer up the zep, but clt lost his observer paper route so times is rough

Seconded >:D

There is yet another thread on the CUSA board about combining the Sun Belt and CUSA, and in ten pages what I learned is that neither conference wants Charlotte. Perhaps Lambert can win on Saturday so we are not the fat kid that didn’t get picked for kickball.
