Fire Ron Sanchez

really? thats what you come with.

Exactly…49er49er…there are a couple posters who have hitched their wagon to this “Bobby bombed out the last 5 years here” nonsense.

Semantics I suppose. I say his last 5 years wasn’t very good you say I said he bombed.

If 83-75 and home for March is what you want hell you got that now. And please stop acting like the A10 was the freaking ACC, it wasn’t. I will give you it’s better than the current CUSA

Only 2 ways for most of us to move on from the Bring Lutz back mantra. Bring him back or a coach needs to make March meaningful.

Are we going to have another entire off season of arguing about a coach that was fired 12 years ago , when the AD has already said he isn’t replacing Sanchez?

Talk about putting words in someones mouth…I have not even insinuated that the A10 was great then. In fact it wasn’t, but it was certainly NOT a good fit for us and was a big step down from CUSA 1.0. However, I would contend that hurt us (recruiting, fan engagement, etc.) instead of helping us (the prospect of playing Duquesne and Lasalle was not the same as playing CIncy and Louisville). and it was taking Bobby (and all of us) a while to get acclimated to it.

Additionally, I have never once said I expected that we WOULD be bringing Bobby back (this is for the posters who continue to post that some of us THINK its going to happen). Several of us would love to see it, but certainly we aren’t expecting it, but those posters acting as if it is just the dumbest idea ever (due to Bobby’s resume) are way off base.

Last 5 years were not very good?

3 of last 5 were 19/20 win seasons. So, 2 of his last 5 were not very good.

We have different definitions obviously. If we don’t make the tourney it’s not a good season to me. If it is to you, then cool.

Oddly, I agree with a lot of what you posted. I agree the A10 was a step down and hurt recruiting. Hell I dropped my season tix after a few years of playing the Fordhams of the world. I live in Asheville and it wasn’t worth the time or money anymore.

Once again, I don’t hate Lutz, I like him. And I think the chances of him coming back are nil.

After reading my own posts I decided I have too much time on my hands disputing a moot point. But, alas, I get bored…

Please, please get off the bring Bobby back bandwagon; it ain’ gonna happen!

The problem is there is no upside right now. It’s not like any of us are going to sit on here and talk about how good we are gonna be next year.

We have one signed guy and I’m not sure we would have him if not for his mom playing here.

And, you know for a fact Lutz is not coming back. How did you get this inside information?

I think it is awesome we have members that are so passionate. For the record, are you opposed to Lutz returning?

I know it will not happen this year. And, hopefully our team performs so well next year that it is a non discussion. But you never know what the future holds.

Exhibit A…perfect example of what i wrote in my previous post.

If Bobby came back I wouldn’t complain.

With that said I don’t want him back. As I mentioned, I think its 50/50 that he wins. I think he would bring some excitement but if he doesn’t win the excitement would die fast. His last 5 years here were not up to par and that was coming off years of success. The program he would take over here is far different than the program he took over here before. I am not convinced he can recruit after effectively being out of the recruiting game for quite sometime. His X and Os I think would be fine as his offence was ahead of the game before. The biggest issue for me though is if he can’t get it done we have to fire him… again. There are no sure bets and the risk of him not working out is just too great for me. I can’t go through that, this fanbase shouldn’t have to and I really don’t want that for Bobby.

Also - Looks like we are stuck with Ron for another year and I hope Bobby gets a job somewhere this offseason so we can put a fork in this discussion with Bobby.

We have 1 guy signed bc the majority of our class will be the portal. Thatsnot a bad thing and we may, in fact do great in the portal (at least on paper), and go into next season with a lot of talent but unfortunately ron will underutilize it

You’ve become negative over the past 5 years

Im positive with tegards to ron’s recruiting to an extent but i havent seen anything that makes me think he knows how to get the bedt out of them. One thing im optimistic about is if/when we fire ron, we will land a great hire, partially bc of the AAC move.

The problem with the portal is Ron’s system is too complex.

Since he is coming back I am hoping I am seeing Ron evolve and adjust his mindset on offense at least. Tempo was much better and looking to get out and run every now and then gave me some hope. Thats all I got.

Ron has out recruited his coaching ability so far. At some point, after there is enough data to judge him, the recruiting will finally drop off to match his ability. You can’t keep selling your vision & asking kids to buy in when your winning percentage is a giant crusty booger hanging from your nose.
