Fire Ron Sanchez

Unless we find some success yes. And I think one extension made sense but the second one still doesn’t in my head. After year 2 success I get it, but he isn’t on the verge of getting hired away and he’s closer to needing to be fired. Don’t give him more years without significant steps in right direction ie not the CBI

I don’t know how once I post. Old man-itis.

Can’t seem to type that well with mu thumbs with the small smart phine keypad either.

I could see the new transfer rules changing the need for continuing contract extensions no matter what. Probably depends on how incoming recruits view it, especially transfers with more than a year of eligibility left (supposedly they’d have to sit out a year to transfer again, will be interesting if waivers continue without the pandemic).

Regardless, AD’s will still generally give a rosy view to avoid undermining a coach.

Hopefully a majority of ADs are going to settle on 3 year contracts for coaches with no HC experience. 4 for previous HC experience. And longer based on real success.

They could also do what they do in the NBA. Option years.

Ok you can get x for 4 years but if you suck your
last year is an option for the school.

Yep, I’m beating the dead horse again here, but I just can’t see the logic at all in staying this course.

It seems to me the only way we do anything at all next year is if we pull off a minor miracle in the portal. So far, that isn’t looking positive.

Next year to me is just another year away from being where I want basketball to be? When we hired Sanchez we really needed a win there. Our next hire is do or die if we aren’t dead already when we finally get to that point. We have to invest in a can’t miss hire.

clt says having our two top players in the portal looking around, and only one player signed doesn’t bode well for player interest in ron’s pillars.

They cannot afford to fire Ron right now. His contract, expense of a replacement, and the fact that football is pushing every button to spend money in ways that football never has and the AD didn’t anticipate right now - it just isn’t going to happen.

You might have a point with cost of whoever we hire, but the money owed can’t be that big a deterrent as his guarantee is about what he will make as an assistant at a decent P5 program.

The 49er Basketball program we knew died long ago. Its like when the Hornets left for New Orleans and then the NBA gave us the Bobcats. Our 49ers that were NCAA Tourney at large contenders every year left town. Now we have the Bobcats. Two different programs.

I’m afraid Bo is correct.

I hear what you are saying. However, the landscape changed dramatically from what made us a solid competitor over 20 years ago and we were slow to react.

The landscape certainly changed, but Judy killed our program with 2 terrible hires.

Facts.

Judy beat it into a coma. Mike pulled the plug. Now he’s just pissing on the grave by keeping Ron for a 6th season.

Program was DOA when Mike got here.

Mike Hill gets a pass? Because it’s a hard job?

Yes, that’s EXACTLY what I said.

Whatever makes you feel better about Mike I guess.

If poggi is a success, I’ll soften my stance on him but to date he’s a failure.
