Fire Ron Sanchez

The program was dead when Mike was hired. We were 6-23 and won 2 conference games that season. The 2nd worst season in program history. I think the only worse season was back when we were in the Dixie League. I don’t know how anyone can say anything different about where we were at that point. The reason we were at that low point was because Judy made 2 terrible hires.

I didn’t say anything about Mike Hill or Ron Sanchez’s performance since that point.

More likely to happen by end of ā€˜23-ā€˜24 basketball season?
  • Men’s Basketball makes the NCAA Tournament
  • Poggi delivers a top 15 defense
  • My right and left testicles decide to switch sides

There have been 3 terrible hires in a row. Mike owns the latest failed hire, and he’s still selling it like Peter and Paul preached for Jesus

I feel like we could have a top 15 defense in football in the AAC & possibly make the AAC tournament in basketball as long as everyone gets in.

I feel like at this point we have RS for the remainder of his contract. By then we’ll have some AAC money to go after a better coach and we can look at the last 8 years as growing pains from having to start completely over with MBB. We’ve gone from wait till next year, to wait till next decade. So it goes.

Can’t go into a final season. Will have to make a call on him before it.

If you are gonna keep the coach that’s all you can do. AD can’t say anything other than positive things publicly.

Next season may be bad enough it forces a change. I could see a Healy like collapse coming for basketball if they don’t pull off a miracle in the portal.

We Are Doomed Reaction GIF

We all probably know well enough how the Sanchez at Charlotte story ends. We have seen it at least twice already; what happens when we hold onto a failed coach too long before making the necessary severance. There are no ā€œrulesā€ to prevent Hill from changing his apparent mindset to torture all Niners fans another season with Sanchez ball.

Can we all just agree on one thing?? Knowing what we know today, firing Bobby Lutz was a very bad idea.

We have shown exceptional patience for coaches that have never done a d*** thing for this program. Meanwhile, the most successful coach in program history got fired because of a slight decline in his win percentage and showed interest a in P5 job (most likely because he knew he did not have the support of the current administration).

We all seemed to think our success was all because Charlotte basketball had arrived and we did not appreciate the performance of our current coach, myself included to some degree. Another coach would certainly take us to the next level. We have all been eating humble pie ever since. Not sure about the rest of you but my slice tastes like s***.

Better days ahead. I am in this for the long haul.

No. It wasent a bad idea. Hiring major, price and ron was a bsd idea

Major was the worst, but only because you don’t fire your winningest coach without investing to take the next step.

Classic case of not knowing what you’ve got till it’s gone

Alan Major did not have the experience, regional ties, familiarity with the program, charisma, or personality to take over a generally successful basketball program. Why Judy and Phil hired him to replace Lutz is a real head scratcher. He was only here for four seasons whereas Sanchez will be here for at least six seasons.

This is the real head scratcher

Majors ā€œhealthā€ā€˜issues have Judy an easy out.

For what it’s worth I think a Major coached team would beat a Sanchez coached team simply because Major didn’t intentionally attempt to limit scoring.

clt asks who would you rather have as coach?

Of course this is true----but many posters here will never admit it.
