When was the last time we had our record at 18-5 during our season? Bobby Lutz during his last year. Of course, the year did not end well but he had the core team coming back the next year. How have things worked for us since the wreckless decision to let him go? How many other universities find us in this unique position?

Winningest coach in program history
Charlotte Alumni Hall of Fame
Assuming, and confident, he would be willing to return to his school
Who cares if anyone has done this before?
What is the harm in having a conversation and exploring options? Assuming we get to that point. Ideally, things will work out with Sanchez.
Perhaps it doesnât work anywhere else but thatâs OK. We are only concerned about âus.â
Doesnât matter who the next basketball coach is at Charlotte it will take some time to get the program back to respectability. If that coach doesnât win every game some posters on this board will be unhappy.
YepâŚI canât stand him,but he is doing well atleast in recruiting and âbowlingâ. âŚI feel sure there were people on Tar Hole boards constantly telling others to " get over it, Mack isnât coming back" too.
There are a lot of CHeat fans who expected a return to glory from Mack, and instead they got a .500 season this year. Thatâs not what they expected or are paying him for.
I think nostalgia often clouds reason. Have any of you ever taken an ex GF back You quickly realize why you broke up in the first place.
If youâre referring to Bobbyâs firing, it really wasnât tied to performance. I believe Judy and Phil were itching for an excuse to be rid of him.
This is a myth. Look at his record. 5 years in a row without a tournament berth⌠just bc we have sucked since then doesnât mean history should be rewritten
It kills me our goal posts were once at consistent tournament appearances. Now, we have melted the goal posts down and turned them into participation trophies.
Just because we havenât won doesnât mean that is the new goal post. It isnât. The goal posts are conference championships. We just arenât hitting our goals
Iâm not anti Bobby. He could come back and he could win. I do think there are some big red flags.
He never liked recruiting and thatâs only gotten harder.
He doesnât have a track record of taking an underperforming program and making them better. Itâs actually the opposite. The program was slowly slipping under his watch.
He has never seen the second weekend of the NCAAs.
He checks a lot of boxes but itâs not a sure thing.far from it.
Personally Iâd rather we bring a guy up from the sunbelt or lower that has turned around a program as the HC and maybe has seen the second weekend of the NCAAs. We are offering a higher league and nearing a 1 mill dollar package. Iâm confident we can land a coach with that profile. Either that or go find a Steve Fisher like guy who did it at a high level and wants one last run.
I think the truth is somewhere in the middle. Was he getting along nicely with Phil and Judy? No. But Lutz said himself that he wasnât getting the job done.
My first option is to see Sanchez succeed. I was expecting this year to be a special year for the team. However, we have 3 players I was expecting to contribute to the success that has not even dressed for a game. Outside of hearing Brice might redshirt, there has been no communication on Daylen and Musa.
If we were to let go of Sanchez, my first preference would be to give Bobby a 2nd chance. if that does not work out, I want a coach who has been successful before. A couple of names that come to mind are Rick Pitno, Greg Marshall, Sean Miller or Jon Beilein.
Mack wasnât fired from UNC-CH. There are plenty examples of coaches who moved on by their own decision, then came back. Chip Kelly may be going back to Oregon. Bob Stoops. Urban Meyer. Bill Snyder. Barry Alvarez.
